Have come here several times and always fun. Small place that gets packed quickly. Bar area and booths along wall. Great drinks and place to hang to meet friends at the bar. Nice local place in the middle of the South End highly recommended!

This is a small place in the South End where many locals seem to frequent. It has about 10 booths and a nice size bar to relax in this casual eating spot. The menu has plenty of options, the food was really good, nice portions and well priced. The service was friendly and very efficient. This is really a good... More

It is reasonably easy to find great food at high prices. This place has a great kitchen, creative and tasty but is also affordable. Very good wine, beer, cocktails. It gets busy, doesn't take reservations, so you may have to wait for a table or eat at the bar.

We were staying in the neighborhood for a couple of nights and were excited to try a few of the many nearby restaurants. First night we went to The Butcher Shop (nearby) and were disappointed by the food. We decided to try Franklin Cafe on the second night and were delighted by the food, the cozy atmosphere, the reasonable prices,... More

I re-visited the Franklin Cafe after several years and really, really enjoyed it. So many places in Boston, it is tough to keep up with them all... Bartenders are really cool. Drinks are great, and the short rib appetizer was right on. Very cool neighborhood place for drinks or dinner.

So this restaurant was supposedly created with local residents in mind. Nothing on the menu is over $20, which in the South End, is a rarity, making dining out more accessible for the locals in terms of cost. The menu has a bit of southern flair to it, but still shares similarities to the other american restaurants in the neighborhood,... More

If you didn't know better you may pass Franklin Cafe. We were lucky enough to have a friend take us there on a Monday night, weekend nights the line is suppposedly long. Franklin is small with two window tables and a small but well stocked bar. Right wall tables, left wall bar with a few tables in the rear, cozy... More

Steak tartare, short rib, shrimps, smoked mussels all of which were divine. It's dark and cosy and the staff were lovely and very enthusiastic about the menu. If you're visiting Boston do try to visit he south end - it's great fun.

Found this place by just walking around our new neighborhood and the cocktails and food were some of the best we have had in Boston. The pork chop was phenomenal with bourbon glaze and the smoke beets were a uniquely excellent dish. I highly recommend.
