OK food in a different setting

They say you pay for what you get and it is probably a fair statement for the Salty Dog. The food is of a decent standard but the presentation is generally lacking. In context, you will be paying less that Legals or McCormick and Schmick, so you should expect a slightly lower standard. The food... read more

We were starving after flying in from Dallas and wanted something casual for lunch. We spotted the sign & steps leading down....and discovered a quaint and charming restaurant. I highly recommend the clam chowder, the clam roll and the lobster sandwich. They were absolutely delicious. Our server was darling & I wish I could remember her name. Food was authentic,... More

We enjoyed dinner here. Two women on a Saturday night - we actually sat at the bar as the place was packed! The bar tender was sweet, helpful, attentive, and easy to reach if needed. We both enjoyed our food and drink. The atmosphere was a lot of fun, and it was nice to walk around and window shop after... More

We went here for drinks and apps before a show one night and we were very impressed! It wasn't our first time here, but normally we go over the summer when they have the outdoor seating & outdoor bar. The oyster shooters are very good, and the Bloody Mary was a great way to start my day! The mussels appetizer... More

Stopped here for lunch and a few beers after a tour. Good clam chowder and fried clams. We like trying a variety of different beers and the waiter brought me a few samples to try before ordering a glass. Waiter was very nice and made the experience fun.

By busy Faneuil Hall, we grabbed a table at Salty Dog hoping for a quick snack - the oysters were delicious and delicate, the crab cakes were also great. Much better than I expected.

Have walked past this place on many previous trips to Boston...now kick ourselves. Oysters were some of the best yet. Fresh scallop dinner was fantastic, as was the Cajun Shrimp Appetizer. Staff were incredible! Attentive, friendly and all patient with our prairie humor :) Will definitey return!

I travel heavily for both business and pleasure and just spent the weekend in Boston. Went to the Salty Dog which I'd enjoyed on past Boston Trips. I'll start with the food was great as usual but the server was either incompetent or just did not want to be there. We listened to the other servers with tables around us... More
