Salty Dog Seafood Grille & Bar

Visited with a group of coworkers before going to a comedy club, this place is a really nice seafood restaurant. It's an authentic place right near Faneuil Hall, food was delicious we had oyster, lobster and some fried cod. If you like seafood and like no frills places this is the place to be.

What a pleasant surprise! I went looking for good oysters after a walk from the City Library to the hall. Down a few steps from the Faneuil sits a small little gem of a place called the salty Dog. First off it was welcoming to a visitor. Secondly my server/owner treated me to some of the best shucked Oysters I... More

Visited Salty Dog a number of years ago and on a recent trip to Boston just had to pay a visit. Delicious, no frills sea food, nicely cooked and served by great staff. The decor is not going to win style awards but that in itself adds to the authentic nature of the restaurant. Situated in Faneuil Hall its location... More

Delicious seafood. Had the lobster sandwich and a fried seafood platter. No frills, but none needed. Small shop with a comfortable atmosphere.

This sweet little seafood spot right there at Faneuil Hall is a great place to stop for a nice cold one or a cocktail and some delicious fresh seafood. We chose raw clams & oysters and a calamari appetizer with some nice breaded hot pepper rings and a marinara dipping sauce. We could've stayed all night....

Great fish and chips, lobster sandwich and crab cakes. Nice little find on a cold day in a popular tourist area. Bathrooms a bit grim, though.

A must stop! Clam chowder and fish sandwich is excellent. This is a hole in the wall, and is a basement establishment. Very casual dress but food is worth the stop.

Stopped by on a recent trip to Boston and had a great seafood meal. Their chowder was first rate and I also enjoyed the seafood platter.

We had dinner at the Salty Dog which we stumbled upon while taking a walk around Quincy Market-Faneuil Hall area of Boston. We were greeted by a very friendly, smiling waitress who carefully explained many of the dishes on the menu. There was a good choice of beers. The chowder was excellent, the best on our entire trip around Cape... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
