The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods - really fresh fish.

Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn't be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels.

We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods.

Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there's no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker.

We've received a boatload of accolades including "Most Popular Boston Restaurant" (Zagat, 2011/2012), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Improper Bostonian, 2010), "Best Chowder" (Boston Magazine, 2010), "Best Seafood Restaurant" (Boston Phoenix, 2009) and the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Good food...great staff!

Legal Seafood can always be depended on for a good meal. The bread is yummy, the chowders creamy and the seafood fresh. But...it can be a little touristy and loud.

We had 18 total persons of my staff attending a meeting in Boston. This Legal Seafood is literally right out the front door from the Boston Marriott on Long Wharf. We have tried 4 different Legal Seafoods in the Boston area and we have never been disappointed. We had a variety of appetizers and a good sampling from the menu.... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy and very full lots of families enjoying the unseasonably warm January day in Boston. The food was very good with generous portions. The wait staff handled the large groups as well as couples. Everyone was seated as soon as possible with special arrangements for the young... More

We went to the one located across from the aquarium. My husband ordered the clam chowder which he said was delicious and I ordered the chipotle shrimp tacos which were probably the best shrimp tacos I had in my life! But be careful because it wasn't on their main menu. Staff was also friendly & helpful.

On our visits to Boston we visit Legal Seafoods for dinner. It never disappoints! We get consistently great service from their friendly staff. Dinners are consistently satisfying, tasty and I think good for you. Fresh sole cooked in a sauce with capers, and served with Jasmine rice and spinach is one of my favorites. Of course, there's plenty of fried... More

Very busy Saturday lunch. The greeting at the door was fast and seating was tuned to our request. We sat by a window so we could see the wharf. There were large groups and families with kids, lots of singles. Nice atmosphere with a great waitress. Food was very good. We had coconut shrimp appetizer with shrimp tacos and crab... More

Love this place! Every time my friends meet in Boston we look forward to eating here. The food is splendid. The service is good. Last time they even charged my phone for me which I felt bad asking but after a long flight and delays it was almost dead. The harbor has such a good energy and it carries over... More

Had a quick lunch here. The chowder which I've loved for years, was really just OK, unfortunately. The lobster rolls, however, were fantastic. Chock full of lobster, with an amazing buttery roll. Good fries, but the cole slaw needs to go back to the drawing board. Overall, as always, a great seafood meal - a quick lunch for us this... More

We popped in here for a quick lunch. My husband and I split the lobster roll served cold and it was delicious. Everything was super fresh. It's a great location near the harbor and the aquarium, which I suppose is sort of odd...

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
