Barking Crab is a landmark Boston seafood restaurant celebrating our fifteenth season. Located on the Fort Point Channel in Boston's Seaport District, The Barking Crab features fresh crabs, lobsters, and day-boat fish brought in each morning. We feature traditional New England fare served in a funky urban clam-shack setting. We have a full bar including over 15 regional micro brews, cocktails, and an approachable value-priced wine list. We are family friendly and a short 2 minute walk from the Boston Children's Museum. Other area attractions include the Institute of Contemporary Art, Harpoon Brewery, the Harbor-walk, Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, and Boston's Financial District.

Good food but slow service...

We went to the Barking Crab after visiting the Tea Party Ships Museum. The weather was perfect for outdoor eating so we took advantage of it. We tried the Downeast Cider, Charlestown, MA. This is very good! Very light and refreshing. We had the steamed mussels and clams, calamari, the scallops... read more

This is more service based than food based. There is a lot of crab obviously & other shellfish & it's fairly pricey. But the atmosphere & service doesn't live up to what u pay. It's very loud & they play clubby loud music under the tent. You sit at picnic tables with paper towels & silverware in buckets & drink... More

We walked in, and noone was there to seat us, even though the place was packed. We found a seat, but they failed to tell us we had to go to the bar to order a drink. The place is like a greenhouse with plastic roof and walls - and was so incredibly hot. We walked out without being served.

Eat lobsters and fish and chips on picnic tables. Lines are very, very long. Staff is helpful. Right on the water.

Long walk to a short pier. More of a bar than a restaurant, and not very kid friendly. Appetizers were good, and the burger and seafood casserole were excellent, but we had to call the waiter every time we needed something. After we finished the appetizer, we had to ask for him to take our order for dinner! Not at... More

What would've been a 5star dining review was unfortunately overshadowed by pretty abysmal service. The food was fantastic and the views were amazing. Be aware the parking situation right now is pretty awful- no where really to park close by. Do not pay attention to recorded message giving parking directions as it's outdated and incorrect. Have been there before in... More

Seriously this place was awful. The food was lackluster at best and way over priced. The waitstaff was slow and no where to be found when you needed them. To top it all off the bathroom was disgusting and there is no AC in the whole place. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

After a hot morning walking the Greenway in downtown Boston, thought a light lunch and refreshments were on order. The Barking Crab looked too good to pass up. On the water, piped in Pandora, very downmarket and looked comfortable. Mai Tai and Bloody Mary was great. Should have stopped there. I had the worst tuna burger ever...dry...overcooked...lame seasoning. Put a... More

While on vacation in Boston, several "Bostonians" told us it was a restaurant we "must" visit. We went there for lunch. Not impressed. I ordered the lobster soup. Would not do that again! My friends ordered the fish and chip meal. Although a bit greasy, their meal topped mine for sure. You sit a tables and others join you. Actually,... More

Great place on the water for a fantastic meal. Service was excellent and the food is everything you would want for seafood in New England.
