After two weeks of American food at a trip in New England I was in a mood for something different: - I travelled a lot in China, so I can say that the food there was typical Chinese no American style Chinese. All people eating there were Chinese or had Chinese friends with - Food was nothing fancy for a... More

So I am in Boston to visit a friend and once more we hit up New Shanghai. Party of 3. App: we had 2 wonton soups. They were very good no issues there and one egg drop soup, which my friend raved about mains: Sweet and Sour pork, which was very good but a bit on the sour side. Orange... More

The staff was not very attentive and service was terrible. The food was actually good but the waiter never came back to the table after our food was served or fill our water glasses. We were very disappointed!

So I went to visit a friend of mine in Boston, and we wanted to experience Chinatown. We parked the car and waled around and looked at different places, we finally decided to go in this restaurant. It was a Saturday night, about 9 pm and the restaurant was maybe 1/2 full, I did see a few people come in... More

When we got there, there was only one couple leaving. They pointed the table we had to sit, have us the menus and left. We have baby n we had to ask them for the baby chair instead of them offering us. When we were ready we had to wave and call them because they didn't even come to offer... More

Went here because other better recommended places were full but so glad we did as it was brilliant! Delicious food and varied menu. Good service too.

Hadn't been to the restaurant in many years as the restaurant had been sold. We tried it recently and the food was fabulous. Fresh seafood and vegetables. All of the dishes were excellent and we ordered a lot. Loved the spinach dumplings and the pan fried noodles with chicken and vegetables.

Nice place - western style cleanliness. Staff a little slow but not unbearably so. Menu was understandable. We did not get very adventurous with the protein choices - but this is the place to do it if you are so inclined. We had spring rolls - nicely done. Sliced pork with minced garlic and chili sauce was delicious - although... More

The subtitle under the New Shanghai's name is "Peking-Szechwan Cuisine." In other words, this place claims to serve 3 of the 4 major types of Chinese cuisine-- eastern, northern, western-- everything except southern. Since the restaurant is in Chinatown, I guess it is trying to be different from most of the other restaurants here, which mainly serve Cantonese food. As... More

Pleasantly surprised that the food was so tasty and fresh, I never expect to get decent Chinese food anywhere but home in NYC. Really enjoyed our meal, however was dismayed to find out that we were charged an additional $3 per plate for rice, which in my experience has always been served with meals at no extra charge. I didn't... More
