Excellent food and prices.

Chinatown in Boston is shaped like the capital letter 'E'. This place is on the first leg of the E as you walk through the welcoming gates. We picked it pretty much by accident and after being seated noted that we were the only Anglos in the place. Business was booming, a lot of meals served... read more

The environment can be the only acceptable part of this restaurant, which mainly because it's not crowded like every restaurant else nearby. The food is definitely not sichuan flavor, may be a horrible mix of szechuan and shanghai style.

We ate here at the weekend, after reading some of the positive tripadvisor reviews. It was unquestionably the worst Chinese meal we have ever had. We have visited Chinese restaurants in a wide variety of countries and cannot recall more disgusting plates of food. And to add insult to injury we were not allowed to finish our starters (which, to... More

I live in Boston and have many choices for Chinese food. I have been going to this place for many years and, even before the current owner. The cuurent owner brought in new chefs, took it to a higher level and always delivers. I was our with 2 friends, both out of town. We had whole fish in Szechuan sauce. Superb.... More

Went here with my Chinese class and our teacher ordered for us all the authentic cuisine. It was spicy, flavorful, and unique! I really enjoyed the traditional restaurant style! Would definitely go back!

I began going to the New Shanghai in Boston before it was the New Shanghai -- about sixty five years ago! My Grandmother took me there and I never forgot it. Years later, my boss, from Shanghai, began taking me there for weekly lunches. So to say the least, we have a history. The place is unpretentious, but warm and... More

I have been there for lunch twice and every time the food was exceptional. You have a distinct advantage if you like spicy food. It's spicy alright, but not to the point where all you can feel is the spice. In short this place is absolutely worth a visit!

During my brief visit to Boston, I feel this restaurant is the best among the ones I have tried in Boston Chinatown. First, it is very clean - they use white table-cloth and white cloth napkins. Second, it is professional - they hire two chefs from China. One chef is from Tianjin and specializes in Northern Chinese Cuisine (Beijing Cuisine... More

First I'd like to admit that the food of the restaurant is OK, just some are too spicy for me. The several problems include 1) They secretly include the tips into the check, but without informing you. So many times my friends and I have been played and paid tips TWICE! They don't do that all the time, apparently, but... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
A small area rich in Chinese cultural influences, visit Boston’s Chinatown for some great Asian cuisine and small, authentic bakeries. Enter through the iconic Chinatown gate and stroll down Beach, Tyler, and Kneeland streets to explore the compact area. Rest your feet from walking and grab a bite at one of the many restaurants around Chinatown. From traditional Chinese to Vietnamese to Malaysian, there is a wide range of Asian food available, within easy access of South Station. At night, Chinatown becomes a late night food destination after the bars close.
