Legal Harborside is Legal Sea Foods’ 20,000 square foot flagship property on the Boston Waterfront, comprising three floors and three different concepts under one (retractable) roof. You’ll find a nod to our heritage on the first floor hull, with a casual menu of seafood favorites with a twist, an oyster bar and a market. The second floor dining room offers cuisine prepared with sensible creativity for celebratory eating and private dining events. And those that visit the third floor promenade deck will enjoy a four-season rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof and walls for cocktails and bites. All aboard!

Located in the Seaport District, Legal Harborside is within easy walking distance to the Institute of Contemporary Art, the World Trade Center, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the Bank of America Pavilion and hotels including the Renaissance Boston, Westin Waterfront and Seaport. Legal Test Kitchen (LTK) is directly across the street.

GOOD! NOT VERY GOOD!

This is one of those places that does not overwhelm or underwhelm. It's a good choice for a consistent meal when you don't want to take any chances on a new place. The clam chowder (which is what was HIGHLY recommended) was good enough. Service was efficient, drinks were good. I would probably... read more

This is one of the best! Coming to Boston and not having seafood is like going to Buffalo and not having wings, or going to Philadelphia and not having a Cheese Steak. I highly recommend this restaurant for excellent seafood in a terrific location off of the Charles River.

This location and other Legal locations are my favorite place to eat .So many gluten free options and they also have some great gluten free rolls. I have also been told that all fried foods are gluten free at this location. As always though there is risk for contamination with other gluten foods in the kitchen because entire kitchen is... Came here for a family dinner for nine. Overall good but don't expect the first floor to be similar to other legal seafood restaurants. Calamari appetizer was really yummy, salad with pears and blue cheese was also wonderful. Pasta is so so. Lobster pie was very good and light. Service is a bit slow especially for the drinks.

After being atthe convention center, this was a welcomed relief with easy access. Food was great, service was fine, the atmosphere on a Friday night was lively.

We dined on the second floor. The seafood was very fresh and nicely prepared. Some of the largest and best shrimp cocktail ever! Some nice appetizer selections that are Asian inspired that add a nice combination to the meals. Superb wine list with many smaller and hard to find vineyards. Excellent service throughout the restaurant and bar. Great views over... More

Legal Harborside is convenient for us because we can get there by boat and dock right there. The menu is different from other Legal restaurants a couple things we love elsewhere are not available at all locations. It's a lovely setting with choices for seating, many with harbor views. The food is very good but not the best seafood I've... More

We had a great meal at Legal Seafoods Harborside. For a start I had some steamed long neck clams. I had a very delicious lobster with a small filet. My wife had a dinner salad which was good. We had some bread pudding for our dessert. The service was very good and the prices very competitive. We will be back.

Staying in Seaport District / South Boston Waterfront

Neighborhood Profile
Seaport District / South Boston Waterfront
This area has been expanding and becoming more and more popular, for good reason. Not surprisingly, the seaport district of South Boston is located beautifully along the water. The area is designed for easy strolling along the HarborWalk, and there are bars and restaurants for all ages and budgets. The Institute of Contemporary Art is located in this area in a contemporary building with an absolutely stunning deck overlooking the water. In the summer time there are Friday music concerts on the deck of the museum. Nearby, there are many green spaces to enjoy.
