For some reason, I had exceptionally high expectations before going to this place and although the food was good, I was not blown away. The Lobster roe noodles were good, but they were not exceptional. The lobster roll was ok, but the chips on the side were dripping in so much oil, I stopped after two pieces. The oysters were... Been wanting to try Island Creek Oyster Bar for sometime after hearing from others about it and reading excellent reviews. Well, my husband and I had our chance on a recent spectacular September evening after enjoying an afternoon Red Sox game. The restaurant has a door to the outside sidewalk, but is actually part of a hotel. We entered and... More

Had a nice meal here, but preferred their sister restaurant, Row 34. I think one thing that detracted from the experience here was the crowd--the restaurant is next to the ballpark and it was a game night. Obviously this is not the restaurant's fault, but it was just a bit too packed and the servers were having to hustle.

I was taking a client out for dinner in Boston and wanted to try a new place. For me, its all about the food. I don't care about ambiance too much. I know Island Creek from growing up very close to where their base is, I know they know quality. I booked a dinner and showed up early to have... More

Enjoyed our return visit. Fabulous oyster selection, clam chowder (with bacon!), and a great herb-crusted cod. Nice wine selection.

My boyfriend and I had taken a vacation traveling along the East Coast in early September, sampling as much seafood as possible and loved every minute of it! Some places were amazing, some just so, so. Island Creek Oyster Bar was definitely AMAZING! We searched for "best oysters" in Boston and found this upscale oyster bar before attending the Red... On our 10th visit or so I've decided to write something nice about this amazing restaurant. First made reservation added a person no problem. These little things are always happening here. Great service, hosts, bartenders with an atmosphere that is very unique. A quick review of the food is: huge shrimp cocktail by the piece $3.50 best ever. Oysters Flying... More

We were lucky enough to get a reservation thru the Hotel Commonwealth. Otherwise, the wait for a table was over an hour and I understand why. With a wonderful, fresh selection of oysters, great beers on draft, a world class wine selection, fresh seafood selections of the day, and great servers, what's not to love? They brought out fresh sourdough... More

After two previous great experiences at this place, this time was very disappointing. The service was terrible. We felt abandoned, had a long wait for food, and one thing we ordered never arrived. Yes the food is very good but I won't go back after this experience. There are too many other great seafood places in Boston to suffer through... More

I went in for Sunday brunch. The place was still buzzing at 3pm. Good upmarket seafood (oysters etc) and serves a great full breakfast!
