Once again, Trip Advisor pointed us in the right direction - for the perfect lobster roll in Boston. We were on a cruise along the eastern seaboard and tasted lobster rolls in 4 ports. These were the best we found. James Hook is actually a lobster distributor/wholesaler. So, clearly, there is no question about the freshness. A real fish market... More

I've been twice in this place and I think is the best place where to eat in Boston. The relation between quality of food and prices is superlative. I've took the lobster with one of the best clam chowder I've taste in Boston. The local is very simple, not for everybody. The tables are very small, for not more tan... More

Hearing that you think we're the best place in Boston is such an honor! The fact that you feel like you're getting the most out of your money is wonderful. Whenever you would like a fresh bowl of clam chowder, I'd be happy to have you here again. Best, John M., Owner More

Small but its reputation proceeded itself. Go for lunch you will not be disappointed. Ordering is a bit awkward and it doesn't look like much right now but don't miss it.

It's awesome that you heard about us and decided to stop in! Sorry about the small location -- we're still recovering from a fire and are working on amending the situation. The next time you're in town, I hope that we get to see you again and that you get to see our improvements! Thanks, John M., Owner More

This is a shipping facility with tanks in lobsters, ready to go as well as frozen lobster, frozen chowders, oysters, shrimp. HOWEVER, with no pretentiousness in this basically large trailer there are about ten tables for dining on exquisite lobster rolls, lobster bisque, clam chowder. Near Latham and financial district, Custom House, Marriott Long Wharf. Better food then any chain... More

We take a lot of pride in loving the local community, so it means a lot to me that you said our lobster and chowder is better than anything you can find at a chain. The next time you're in Boston, we'd happily provide you with lobsters (and more lobsters) straight-up, with no pretentiousness. Can't wait to see you back,... More

If your looking for real lobster roll or a crab roll without the filler this is the spot you should visit. There is no walking and talking with either roll, a fork is needed unless you don't mind messy.

Freda, it sounds like you really enjoyed the lobster and crab meat! Sorry they were a bit messy for you, but we just want to make sure that you're getting your money's worth and that you get plenty of food. I hope you come back and see us again! Thanks, John M., Owner More

Great value and delicious and fresh lobster roll. The bisque and chowda (that's how they say it in Boston) are simply delicious as well. Sitting amongst the tall modern buildings in Boston it looks out lf place but go in, you won't regret it!

Your Boston pronunciation is spot-on, Michael, and this review was great as well. The next time you're in the area, I hope you come in for another roll, or some bisque or chowdah. Thanks, John M., Owner More

James Hook's sea food was recommended and proved to be worth the visit.Clam chowder and lobster sandwiches are what the place is famous for as well as all the live lobster seafood. An expensive treat but well worth the effort.I now realise that crab is a more tasty meat than lobster.

Tony, it's always a pleasure to know that you felt the food was worth the visit. I'm sorry that you felt that it was expensive, but please know that the cost is based on market prices. I hope to see you back here the next time you're around Boston -- I think you'll enjoy our crab meat as well. All... More

It's very basic decor - Tight, and familiar, but oh so good. I never had the gigantic lobster, but regret not having it. Seriously though the lobster roll is fantastic, big - but not overly rich or mayonaisy. The fish soup is very hearty - recommended.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'm sorry we made you have a regret now, but I'm happy that you got to experience the deliciousness that is a giant lobster roll. The next time you're up around Boston, I hope you come back for another. Thanks, John M., Owner More

No frills tiny seafood market right next to the water. We squeezed in our family of five and enjoyed our first meal in Boston! Lobster rolls, chowder, and lobster bisque. Food was great! This is a great stop if you are in that section of town and want a mayo based lobster roll for a fair price.
