This is the place to come for no frills great fresh seafood. Most of the customers were ordering lobster rolls but for the same price we got a 4 pound lobster steamed which fed two. ( I could have eaten the whole thing myself)! You can eat on their picnic tables, which is nice on a sunny day. The only... More

Have eaten here every time in Boston. Great lobster and great chowder, Price is more than in past and it's no longer the best "bang for the buck" but close.

A hole in the wall with very fresh seafood, efficient service and, given the costs of running a restaurant in Boston, good value for money. Tip #1. Order the regular $15 lobster roll. It is generously stuffed with fresh lobster and the bun is crisped just right. You might also order the clam chowder, a pleasantly light version of the... More

We're happy that you like the lobster roll and that you appreciate the consistency of our clam chowder. We think our food goes great with taking in the scenery, too. Ok, I was here in March and was guided by the outstanding reviews on this site. It was too cold for outdoor seating so I was relegated to eating among the live lobsters waiting to be boiled. The place obviously serves the freshest seafood imaginable. I ordered a toasted lobster roll which was overflowing with huge chunks of lobster but... More

We're glad that you enjoyed things enough to give us four stars, Al, and you've definitely given us a few ideas on how we can make your next experience better. Our lobster rolls are a huge favorite and we want to stay on top of keeping them consistently flavorful. The lobster meat shouldn't be chewy, and isn't typically. Please let... More

This place's lobster rolls were a treat. For $20 you get a sizable amount of the freshest , tasty lobster. The sandwich is well worth the time to seek this place out. Nothing remotely similar could be purchased in Chicago. I will return.

My family always get our lobsters from Jame Hook & Company because they are so fresh. The prices are really good too. There store doesn't really look like much but they get all of their seafood right off the boats as they come in. Great value for fresh seafood.

This place was a great find, just across the road from my hotel. $20 got me a kingsize specimen. Ok no frills but just plain good value.

As we fumbled through Quincy Market looking for lunch in a pinch, I pulled the trigger and walked my hungry family the half mile to James Hooks for a lobster roll. Best decision of the day. Served in a small trailer, it was crowded, but the service was friendly, and reasonably quick. The lobster roll was outstanding, as was the... More

We stopped here as it was listed on numerous websites as the best place to get a lobster roll in Boston. I can say that the reviews were spot on! I had several lobster rolls while in the New England area and there was definitely a difference between those and the one I had at James Hook. It was so... More

The lobsters in the tank and the lobster on the lobster roll were giant! Unfortunately, I didn't like the bread for the lobster roll. It was chewy and slightly cardboardy. Plus I didn't like the fact the bread wasn't toasted.

Thanks for sharing your experience and for being honest. It's candid feedback like this that helps us get better each and every day! I'm sorry to hear that you weren't the biggest fan of our bread. Did you mention this to our team? We would have been more than happy to get you something that was more to your liking.... More
