We visited the restaurant with my family and I would rate the lobster roll average and the clam chowder below average for Boston. A large lobster roll with a small bag of potato chips was $20. With about the same price you could have a lobster roll or clam chowder at legal seafood up the street a real restaurant with... More

Stopped by occasionally. Just was very hungry and this place was nearby. There was a line, it wasn't like real restaurant, more like a fast food. But man.. when I bit this lobster roll nothing else mattered for me. Very fresh, on a good bun with great taste. I'm writing this review and want another one right now. Will be... More

Loved eating the best lobster roll ever right there in the fishery! Very rustic, authentic place with the best, yet the least expensive, lobster roll in the city! We were surrounded by live lobsters--nothing wrong with that!

We were told by friends to eat at this small eatery at the wharf. We ordered a large lobster roll and lobster brusque. It was the best lobster roll I ever had. There were real lobster meat! When the queue was shorter, I went back and ordered another lobster roll, and a cooked lobster for my wife. We ate the... More

Oh Boy, my wife and I really savored this lobster roll. I ordered the large one and my wife ordered the small one. It wasn't long before she was saying she wished she had ordered the large one. When we arrived, the line was out the door. We waited about 20 minutes before we ordered and it was worth the... More

Fantastic little fishery on the wharf, dominated by massive high rise buildings - amazing that they are still there. We had fantastic lobster rolls at lunchtime amongst Bostonians coming in and buying their live crabs and lobsters to take home to cook. Unmissable!

This was the freshest lobster we had in our New England travels. The staff are very well trained and will accommodate special requests. Quite cramped inside but plenty of outside seating.

Lobster rolls are to Boston like crab cakes are to Baltimore. Both cities take great pride in their respective hometown specialty but the majority of examples you'll come across are only "OK". Not so at James Hook--the best Lobster Rolls I've found in Boston after moving here two years ago. Crab is delicious, roll is perfect size (I recommend getting... More

I love lobster rolls and this is the best place, by far, to buy lobster rolls in Boston. Place burned down several years ago and has been replaced with a trailer - nothing fancy. There are tables outside if you want to eat there. They have two sizes - $16 and $19. We got the $16 and don't know how... More

I only had the lobster roll which was amazing but everything else looked good too. This is also a store so note nothing fancy, no alcohol. Still, go and share a roll even if not hungry.
