We happened on the Gourmet Dumpling House knowing nothing about restaurants in Chinatown Boston. There was a line outside and we talked to some people waiting who loved the place. So we figured why not? This is a typical dumpling house atmosphere, crowded and efficient (though very impersonal) service. I have no idea if there was racism going on like... More

Nice Cantonese food served here at a reasonable price. We had to wait for 15-20 mn to be seated as the place is quite popular. Service was good and efficient. Food is tasty, dumplings were good. The kind of good casual place we look for in Chinatown.

This little place has an amazing selection of dishes and is not to be missed in Chinatown. All the dishes we tried were outstanding, As can be expected, the small place thrives on quick service. We waited about 20 min to get in but was not disappointed. The steamed chicken dumplings, flat noodles with beef, pan fried seafood noodles and... More

This tiny restaurant in an ugly street of Chinatown is out of this world. You have to be patient to get in but the food is prepared fresh, simply delicious and hard to beat. Taiwan inspires the cuisine: their dumplings are juicy, their soft shell crab is light and crispy and their salad is crunchy and hot. This is our... More

There's often a small crowd waiting outside to get in and eat. It's because the dumplings and buns are out of this world. We tried two types: pork mini-buns (they have soup inside) and chicken and cabbage dumplings. On the side we had fresh sautéed Chinese broccoli. A fresh pot of hot tea was on the table when we sat... I took my two teens and tween here. Had to wait outside for a cramped fit inside for about 15 min on a Monday night at 6:00, but we loved it! The mini dumplings alone are wonderful. They bring everything out as it is ready, which is good because the tables are small. Fun for us!

... you won't regret it. Just leave yourself some time, let them know your name, get a waiting time estimate, visit the Commons for 15 minutes or so, and get back to the Gourmet Dumpling House for the best Chinese around. If you intend to order dumplings, even as appetizer, you should know that they state plainly that 15 minutes... More

Took the family here for dinner on a recent trip... had to wait for a table large enough for 5 people to open up, but once we got seated, the food was very good. We had the juicy dumplings with pork, scallion pancakes (a very pleasant surprise!), and fried rice. Everyone left full and happy. It's a pretty small place,... More

We came for Shanghai dumplings and were not disappointed. On a Monday night, it was packed and we waited about 15 minutes for a table. This is a small restaurant with tables set very close together. Besides the dumplings, we also had tofu and onion pancakes, everything was good. The dumplings were, by no means, the best we've had, but... More
