I have been dragged to this restaurant multiple times by friends, all boasting of its great Mexican food, and each time I walk away wondering what rock my friends came out from under. On the upside, the portions are large (is that a positive?), the service is good, and the atmosphere is generally festive for those who like crowded, loud... more

Food is excellent and is out quickly. Service has always been wonderful. Recommend the Warm Fajita Salad (so, so very good), Sizzling Enchiladas, and the Spinach Enchiladas. Tried numerous things on the menu and have not been disappointed no matter what is ordered. Make sure you stop here for a great meal! more

The food was extremely good and the service was the best I have ever had in a mid-price restaurant. The portions were very large. The food is somewhat spicy, even on those dishes they say are mild. In summary, a Great Place you need to try. more

If you want to eat with the locals in Asheville, stop at the Papa's and Beer on Brevard Rd or Tunnel Rd. If you go to the Brevard location, ask for Ada to be your waitress. You will not find friendlier service anywhere. The chips and salsa are great, and the salsa bar offers multiple options in addition to the... more

This is my favorite restaurant for GREAT mex food, especially the fajitas and various salsas and a wonderful bean dip, but it has without a doubt the WORST frozen margaritas I've ever had. So we have a beer. more

This restaurant was a wonderful expereince for our entire family. The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a mexican village, and the small children in our partyliked it. The service was the best we have had in long time. There were multiple servers helping us, and continued to keep our chip baskets and drinks full throughout the meal. We... more

Now let me qualify "best in Asheville" by saying there isn't much competition out there. Still, the food is pretty darn good. It is your standard Tex-Mex fare, with a few specialties thrown in. I love the Jose Cuervo fajitas that come with steak, chicken, shrimp and fish - a single order is enough for 2 very hungry adults, with... more

After visiting Papa's, and I can't even fathom going back to my favorite Mexican place in my home town. I was totally surprised by the complex flavors and twists on your regular Mexican food favorites. The standard pre-dinner chips were brought out with a bean dip that offered just the right amount of 'bite' for almost anyone. Expect a full... more

We had dinner here on 6/20/09. It was very crowded and very noisy due to the Father's Day weekend crowd. But the food was absolutely fantastic. Lots of food and very good drinks. Baskets of chips kept filled and loved the salsa bar, that's a great idea with the different salsa flavors and heats. We were a large group but... more

Papa's and Beer offers quality Mexican food in an attractive setting. Portions are quite large. Food was delivered promptly and with good cheer. The bar is a good place to hang-out while you wait for your table, which you will in this popular restaurant. more
