Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

I couldn't have been happier with this place. As a first time visitor to Asheville, I didn't know where to go. A colleague recommended the Lobster Trap and it was ideal. We sat at the bar and the service was friendly and my cocktail was one of the better ones I've had. We shared the Maple Bacon Scallops. MMMMmmmm. Then,... More

We have been to Asheville a number of times but we were not aware of this restaurant, must be a local secret! We decided to try it because it was one of the few open on a Monday evening. It is a seafood joint in the manner of a New England Clam/Lobster shack. The food is what you would expect... More

We read the reviews and we're looking forward to a great meal. Regrettably, so many wrong things happened. I don't know if the lobster was fresh or not, but you know there is a problem when you crack open a claw and water runs out. It was overcooked, watered down and blah. My partner had crab cakes which were perfectly... More

Thank you for your feedback. I have forwarded your comments to the bar manager and the kitchen crew. Please note that all of our lobsters are fresh and kept live in a lobster tank until we prepare them. It sounds like you ordered a steamed lobster, which normally has some water in the shell due to the steaming process. Perhaps... More

Even though the restaurant is in the mountains, the seafood is flown in fresh every day and is excellent! My husband and I had the tastiest and most tender bacon-wrapped maple scallops we had ever eaten for an appetizer, followed by Lobster Newberg and Lobster Carbonarra that was to die for. We couldn't help noticing the humongous king crab legs... More

My husband and I went to Asheville, NC with our friends for a relaxing birthday getaway. While walking downtown we happened upon this lil spot. The wait was long but we had Sangria and conversation so it was ok. We ordered the Lobster and Shrimp toast for an app and the Lobster mac and cheese which was bursting with nice size... More

The mac & cheese was omg delicious. Best I've ever had. Nice chunks of lobster throughout. The waiter (Brian C) helped us pick our meal. They have a cold tier but we prefer hot seafood so he suggested a few options. Crab legs were delicious and the serving size was shareable. The steak was even good. The wait was long... More

My boyfriend recently visited Maine where he had what he describes as an amazing lobster roll. We specifically visited this restaurant to give their lobster roll a try. Absolutely delicious. The lobster bisque is wonderful, too. We will be making many more trips to this establishment!

Had dinner here Friday March 20. Got there around 7 or so, they said it would be around 30 minutes for a table so we went to the bar to get a glass of wine. The bartender was great and full of personality (if only all bartenders were like that!). We ended up only waiting about 10 minutes for a... More
