Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

Casual Lobster Dinner

This was our first restaurant stop on our recent trip to Asheville and we were not disappointed! Arrived a little before 5:00pm on a Tuesday and waited with a few other families. Wonderful food in a small intimate space. Great local music and unbelievable mac and cheese. Well worth the wait. The staff was very accommodating.

We came to the Lobster Trap bu wau of a hotel receptionist's suggestion. Great choice. Food was excellent. We sat at the bar. The bartender was knowledgeable on wines and suggested a good one for us. Great spicy bloody mary as well. They had live music which was not overbearing.

Decided on this place for dinner at the last minute. Though it was Saturday night, the wait was only about thirty minutes and we shopped nearby to kill time. Our server Jessica was friendly, capable and seemed to really enjoy her job. I had the stuffed mushrooms along with the lobster Alfredo - very good. My husband was pleased with... More

This may be the best kept secret in Asheville. The place is a little noisy but when you taste the food, you won't care. Our waiter, Brandon, could not have been any better. Don't go to Asheville without eating here

We were a very hungry party of 6 adults, a 3yr old and a 1yr old with a stroller. The hostess should have run the other direction but she was awesome. Even told us we could store the stroller in a downstairs hallway. (read lifesaver). We had a huge booth in the very back of the restaurant and two high... More

My daughter, knowing that this was one of my favorite restaurants and that we would be visiting Asheville soon, purchased a $100 gift card in mid July for my birthday. Her boyfriend made the purchase, and when they gave it to me he said that he never felt like the guy he bought it from knew what he was doing,... More

Please accept my sincere apologies for the problem you had with the gift card. There was a perfect storm of unfortunate events surrounding the situation. First, the card was not activated correctly. Second, the general manager/executive chef was working on the line in the kitchen. He wanted to visit your table but did not have an opportunity to. Third, the... More

We were disappointed. Cesar salad was good with lots of shaved Parmesan (maybe a little too much) but they don't have anchovies for the anchovy lovers. The crab cakes were good but overpriced. The baguette ($1.50 for half a loaf) was not a real baguette but was a dry multigrain that resembled a baguette only in shape. The worst was... More

Thank you for the feedback. I am so sorry that you were not happy with your visit. Please accept our apologies for the smoked salmon in the cioppino. We changed to smoked haddock and did not make the change on the menu. We will correct this. This is a very hearty and popular dish that generally contains a lot of... More

The food is delicious, the service is exceptional, and the ambiance is great! You must try the lobster mac and cheese and the barley baguette. Large portions. Love the live music! Call ahead because even they don't take "reservations" you can be placed in a preferred status if you call.

This is a terrific place - they fly in the lobsters from Maine daily. They are only open for dinner - it's a shame as they would make a killing. They have a small bar area with a duo or trio almost nightly to compliment the really terrific seafood, especially the lobster and oyster dishes. WINNER!
