Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

My new favorite seafood restaurant - either coast!

I have eaten seafood all over the country and the world, and yet the quality, freshness, and flavor at The Lobster Trap is superior. I have also never experienced this level of service. I will be back as often as possible.

Chose The Lobster Trap for a birthday dinner with husband and friends. My favorite item was the Bloody Mary with shrimp, crab claw and pickled veggie garnish. My entree of crab cakes consisted of two scallop sized cakes and a 2x2 square of cornbread. Other entrees included a pasta seafood dish lacking in basic seasonings salt and pepper, Lobster pot... I am so sorry you were disappointed. Thank you for letting us know. We do have seat cushions available upon request. I apologize that you were not aware of this. We put the lobster meat of a "chick" lobster in each pot pie. I discussed your comments with the kitchen and they will be addressing your concerns. I am glad... More

I've been going to The Lobster Trap since before even moving to the area--though, honestly, I was leery of a place called "The Lobster Trap" the first time I went, since that name can typically signal fried-food "tourist trap" in the coastal places I've eaten up and down the Eastern Seaboard. Not here! The seafood is always fresh and the... More

We thought about doing barbecue but since we had arguably the best BBQ in the US in Austin, we decided on seafood . Since we're from New England we weren't expecting to be wowed but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of selections. One of us had the chopping which was the star of the evening. We had a... Really fantastic seafood. We had the Large Shrimp Steam Bowl for an appetizer. It was fantastic. My daughter had the Lobster Macaroni And Cheese and said it was delicious. The Alaskan King Crab Legs was my choice and an excellent one. I had a Lucky Catch bloody Mary - with a crab claw, shrimp, and celery in it. Awesome!

Cute place - great prices and fabulous food. We started with a cup of lobster bisque and clam chowder. Taste of NE in both. Next Stuffed lobster mushrooms and cheese. 6 nice sized mushrooms oozing with lobster and cheese. For dinner, I had the lobster pot pie and it was big. I expected a small pot pie this was served... My fiance and I walked here from our room over the Altamont Theater, which was about 3 minutes, and were so absolutely pleased! The server was so kind and knowledgeable. We had the Chef's Choice Oyster Platter and I'm not a oyster fan, but THESE were incredible! Truly a treat! I also had the clam chowder which I am now... More

We liked this place. We were staying in a VRBO unit upstairs during the Christmas season while visiting family in Asheville so I had to try this restaurant. We're use to excellent seafood, and The Lobster Trap did not disappoint. We shared baked oysters, my wife loved the shrimp and grits, and I enjoyed the cioppino (although I knew I... More

It was simple and great tasting. The waitress was super attentive and made sure I was taken care of before I could even ask. And the gentleman providing entertainment and the guitar was excellent.
