Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

We've been coming to Asheville for over ten years to visit our son and daughter in law and always treat ourselves to dinner at the Lobster Trap... They never disappoint us!

No charm. Lacks presentation. Charges for bread. Really guys! I appreciate the good service from Shawna. The steamed shrimp bowl was tasteless. Not my first pick. I should mention they took the bread off the bill when we complained.

I am so sorry you were disappointed with your visit. Thank you for the feedback and for mentioning your server's name. I am glad that your server took good care of you and that your bread was removed from the bill. We offer complimentary fish dip and crackers instead of bread. We have a lot of items on the menu... Our bus ride dropped us off right across the street from "The Lobster Trap." We had to try it. We didn't make reservations on a weekend but there was room at the bar for us to sit. I had the lobster roll which I loved. The roll was just right and they provided hot butter on the side which made... More

i had the baked oysters--cooked perfectly and very tasty. Husband had the trout and said it was very good. Service was excellent even though the restaurant was busy for a Wednesday night. We arrived at 6:30 and had to wait 30 min for a table. Shared a key lime pie and it also was quite yummy. We will definitely come... More

However the food is delicious, the speed of serving left its marks. Childrens menu pasta with shrimps was just pasta, no shrips and toppings. My lobster came without correct utensils, so was difficult to eat

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have discussed your experience with the staff. This is the first time I have heard of something like this happening. We check every plate before we put it up and the servers check their plates before bringing them to the table. The staff could not recall this happening? It would be very... More

My wife is mildly allergic to shellfish but loves other seafood so we stopped in to The Lobster Trap at 7:30 on a Friday night. We were told the wait would be 45 minutes and they took a cell phone number. In 30 minutes we got the call! Not too bad! We were seated at a two top in between... More

Disclaimer: We love the food here. Waitress good too! Will go back again. We were there last night, and enjoy going to this restaurant about 5x a year. This last time (7/18/15), while the food was excellent as usual (YAY), there seems to be this new thing to clear off the dishes, CONSTANTLY, almost just as you are finishing a... More

We appreciate you letting us know about your experience with the bussers. There is a fine line between wanting to remove unwanted tableware and being disruptive to customers. Clearly we missed the mark during your dining experience with us. Please know that we will be re-training our bussers immediately. We were happy to hear that you are planning to try... More

Great lobster roll that was just loaded with goodness! Nice bar with good selection of local brews to sit out the wait. Time flies when you're having fun. Stop by and enjoy. Met some cool locals and if the locals hang there it's good enough for everyone.

Honestly the lobster tasted musky. Crab legs were great. Plan to try again but the visit was not that memorable.

The lobster trap was exactly what we needed-- attentive, friendly service and amazing food! For an appetizer, you absolutely have to get the crab and shrimp toast. The cornbread is also fabulous. For the main course the lobster newberg is unbelievable! The food is all very fresh and flavorful, and the restaurant has a great subtly nautical atmosphere nestled into... More
