Since its opening in 2005, The Lobster Trap has been Asheville's premier seafood restaurant, and with good reason. The menu only features fresh seafood caught by trusted domestic purveyors and prepared in ways that showcase the delicate flavors and textures of fish, lobster, crabs, shrimp, oysters and clams. Located in a beautifully renovated historic building in the heart of downtown Asheville, The Lobster Trap features live entertainment from local musicians every night. To that, add locally brewed Oyster House beers, craft cocktails, seafood-friendly wines and southern hospitality and you have The Lobster Trap's formula for success.

Really good seafood!

We really enjoyed dinner here! Like others have reported, your eyes are bigger than your stomach with so many fresh choices. The House Bloody Mary is an experience in itself...and well worth the wait! The steamed shrimp and lobster is excellent, but I don't necessarily recommend the pasta.

This was our choice for our anniversary dinner while visiting Asheville. I wanted surf and turf(but 11oz of steak and 1lb lobster was too much for me) so I got just the Lobster. I watched others order the bake and double bake; so much food! Good wine selection, and good beers on tap. Our service was great, Katie took good... More

We visited the Lobster Trap on vacation. We got excellent service, and the food was amazing! Our server went out of her way to make sure we had everything we wanted. We enjoyed the house margaritas, and our seafood was fabulous. Highly recommend!

I should have seen red flags when mountain folk--far from the coast--recommended this restaurant. The seafood is not fresh tasting and and highly highly overpriced. NOT a pleasant experience or ambiance. Small, loud, bad food and bad service. There is a guy that goes to the coast every week and sells fresh seafood at 641 Merrimon in the Vinnies parking... More

I've been going to Lobster Trap off and on since they opened but I had not been in the past year. The first thing that struck me was how much the prices have gone up. You used to be able to get a lobster roll with a side there for $18 and an overstuffed one for about $4 more. Now,... More

I am so sorry that you were disappointed with your recent visit. We are very sensitive about our pricing and have much lower margins than most restaurants. Unfortunately, the cost of fresh, sustainable seafood is high and continues to increase. Our lobster roll now contains the same amount of lobster as our previous "overstuffed" roll. However, the bun we use... More

Had the three tier seafood tower with friends. Everything was OK, not great, but OK. The clams, however, were the size of large peas. Having worked the Jersey shore and having eaten buckets of steamers, let's say that if this is what passes for a clam in Asheville folks there are missing a lot. Finally, my wife had what they... Cool atmosphere. Small space, but enough room to put a live music area. Fresh seafood, peel and eat shrimp, cocktails and dessert. Very happy!

On the way home to Indiana from South Carolina my son suggested that my wife and I stop at Asheville, North Carolina for the night. While we were there we went downtown looking for a seafood restaurant we read about on TripAdvisor. The Lobster Trap was better than the reviews we read about. The staff is very friendly and eager... Ate dinner here on a recent visit to visited downtown Asheville. They have an excellent menu for seafood. Specific varieties of oysters are offered along with clams, lobster, fish, etc. Our service was very good. Nice atmosphere. Centrally located in downtown Asheville. We took the bicycle taxi to and from our hotel. That was fun and the driver (cyclist ?)... More
