A top choice for downtown dining - small bistro type setting that gets packed with locals and tourists. The fries are great - try to catch the mussel special or half price wine night. more

We arrived late on Friday (9:45 ish) and were welcomed with the tantalizing aroma of garlic and fresh herbs. I began with the escargot (great taste and presentation) adn my husband had the french onion soup (tasted like it was homemade). I was looking forward to ordering the boulibase, but unfortunately they ran out shortly before we arrived. I had... more

'Bouchon' advertises itself as a classic French bistro. The atmosphere was classical french Bistro; the staff are a little pompous (especially Michel the owner/chef), the wine selection is very good, but unfortunately the food is variable in quality. My wife and I visited on a Friday night in late-September. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table (no reservations),... more

This is my fave place! I walked all over Downtown looking for somewhere else to eat & just wasn't satisfied with anything else I saw. The escargot is to die for with any of the salads (compose' or tomate) I was a solo female visitor & I felt very comfortable at the bar (both nights - Fri & Sat). The... more

The food, service and atmosphere were great! We got there around 5:30 pm and just beat the huge crowd and were able to eat on the patio. I would recommed this restaraunt to anyone! more

This restaurant is a far cry from anything approaching a good Parisian bistro. While the chef may be French, and while the reviews are very favorable, anyone who has been to Paris or even to a good bistro in NYC would realize that the place has mediocre food and substandard service. Indeed, the first clue that something is amiss is... more

Think of Asheville and you don't think of French food. But that's because you haven't been to Bouchon. The owner is French, and he has created amazing dishes combining local food with traditional European recipes. Monday night is all-you-can-eat mussels ... a must-not-miss! And get the pomme frites ... the best french fries you'll ever eat. Prices are more than... more

This is a definite "must-visit" when in Asheville. The service: great. The French owner: walks around chatting and being generally genial. The ambiance: tres francais. The food: Perfection. My only gripe would be the little-itty-bitty bit of sliced baguette they provide you with. They happily refilled our basket twice, but they should just bring out a half (or whole!) baguette... more

The restaurant does not accept reservations and our expected wait time, on a busy Sat. night , was pretty accurate so they really didn't seem to be trying to keep us at the bar. Our starters (pate & escargots) were just ok, BUT our main courses were very good, - turkey scaloppinni & steak frites. The restaurant had a nice... more

Truly a fun place to eat. Genuine food in a high-energy room with a great vibe. Asheville's best for those who seek value rather than hype. Great inexpensive wines which truly do have the gamut covered for imagination and value. All you can eat 'Mussels nights' are amazing as the quality is truly there- plate after plate. Honest deserts finish... more
