This is, essentially, a brewpub, the difference being they brew their own sake, not beer. Like most brewpubs, the food is good and the staff is friendly and knowledgable, but the drinks are the true stars of the show. The home-made sake they pour at Blue Kudzu was a revelation to me. Before this, I'd only had that nasty-tasting warmed... More

First off, I love the staff. I've only been here a few times, but the staff seems awesome, especially Michael and Kat. My problems are in the food. I could be wrong, but it seems like the food gets more expensive every time I go there, though it's good, I'd like an explanation if I'm right. The beer prices seem... More

Some hits and misses on this visit. Ordered the Sake sampler, that included 3 of the house made sakes. Also ordered gyoza, spring rolls and ramen bowl. They were out of gyoza, so couldn't try them, which was disappointing because I find dumplings can be a good barometer. The spring rolls were quite tasty, if slightly messy to eat. The... More

The first time I went they were not yet ready to serve their locally brewed Sake so I ordered a Flight of traditional Sakes and a Reuben with Kimchee. What a delightful experience. The Sakes were at proper temperature and all excellent. The Reuben was delicious and the Kimchee pushed it to an unexpected level of quality. The second time... More

A glass of bubbly and a bowl of Pho ("Fuh" for newbies); great music and an awesome staff...what more could you want? I can't wait to try the new sake, and I'm still working up to the karaoke on of these Sundays. Maybe the bottomless mimosas will help... The heart of this place is evident, and how cool are we,... What a great time at Blue Kudzu! A friend and myself went in for dinner what great food we had, the server Mikel was the best. Friendly, fast and suggestive service, he really made the experience! This is a place I will continue to visit.

In the River District in Asheville, NC is a new restaurant that surprised six of us last night. We wanted to learn a little more about saki and made the reservations to taste and to have dinner. Turns out that the saki tasting was fun and surprisingly good. Of the four sakis, the top two were great and the latter... More

Yes, the sake in your flight was primarily Japanese however the "pina colada" is a coconut and lemongrass infusion from Oregon. It is certainly a favorite for the sweet drink lovers out there, but maybe not quite so for those that prefer a drier palette. Thank you so much for taking the time to review your experience with us! We had a great evening. The sake was good, as was the food and the service. There were six of us, and we did multiple delicious small plates. We ordered a flight as an intro to the sake. We all liked the "special" sake and shared a bottle. Then we moved on to nice wine. We are Asheviile residents and... More

Thank you so much for your review and we are so glad you loved your experience with us! Brewing is slated to begin next week as Mitch has just returned from brewing in Japan at a 300 year old kura.
