I'm not a vegan and don't really get those who are. This restaurant was recommended to us by the New Age place across the way, so when I saw "vegan" on the fare, I was skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised by the meal we got. My wife ordered the trout and I had duck. Both dishes were excellent and the... more

Everyone said to go to Early Girl for breakfast, but we didn't make it til lunch time and that was perfectly ok, because WOW was the food beyond excellent! The restaurant was packed and we had about a 15 minute wait but it was definitely worth it! While waiting we taste tested the wonderful Imladress Farms jam outside, as the... more

Stopped by on our way out of Asheville. Restaurant is kind of hidden on Wall St but was able to park right up front. Loved the fact that they use local produce/meats for their food. Can not skip the pumpkin-ginger bread. Wife had a delicious omellette and I had the Sweet Potato Scramble. They did not skimp on the portions... more

I was expecting something a bit healthier. We had breakfast, and both our dishes were quite greasy. I actually sent back the shrimp and grits, which were swimming in bacon grease, in favor of the vegan tofu scramble. The food is pretty good, but if you are looking for something healthy, inquire about the grease factor first. What really saved... more

We enjoyed this restaurant very much. Quite a variety on the menu + daily specials. I loved the sweet potato cakes, and my husband was crazy about the pumpkin bread. Terrific service. Laid-back atmosphere. $8-12 is great for dinner prices, and we had ample food. more

Stopped for a late lunch here after Tupelo Honey was closing down. Eggplant panini with goat cheese was pretty good, but the organic greens (primarily swiss chard) which I took as a side were excellent. As mentioned, no ice in the water, which is good for energy savings, but tepid water is not very appetizing. They had great herbal tea,... more

The fried green tomato Napoleon was to die for. And the kids' t-shirts are adorable. If you're looking for organic, grass-fed, free-range, hormone-free pork then you've come to the right place. more

Nothing fancy at all but definatly feels like Asheville. Worlds best chicken sandwich and fries. But the best thing is the fresh ingredients most of wich are local. Best place for Sunday meal anything from fish , breakfast , to burgers and sandwiches and great sides and veggies. Also have an open kitchen in the front and you can see... more

Been there 4 or 5 times, and the overall experience is average at best. I do not understand why people go so bonkers over this place. Vegetarian "sausage" was weird - like nuts loosely combined with rice. I have had tons of veggie sausage that actually tasted like sausage, and this was some completely different substance all together. Coffee is... more

This is a laid-back eatery boasting some unique dishes and twists on old favorites. The pumpkin ginger 'quick bread' is way too good! The staff looks like what you'd expect in the cool artsy atmosphere of Asheville- friendly, eclectic and maybe sporting a tattoo or two. This would be a favorite place of mine if I lived in Asheville. more
