We were downtown for a concert and wanted to grab a few glasses of wine and an appetizer or two. Unfortunately, all our usual haunts had long waits so we wandered into Heiwa Shokudo, our first visit. We sat outside on their 4-5 table patio. Service was prompt albeit not real professional. We ordered our wine and two appetizers --... More

My spousal unit is from Japan, and she was impressed by food @ Heiwa Shokudo! Service was prompt and attentive, food was spectacular! Try the salmon lemon maki - something we never saw before and it was double delicious too. Keep up the great work, see you again soon!

We have eaten here many times in the past and it was great; however, the past two times, the service has been terrible and the food OK .... This past Saturday, the hostess told us to select any table for 2. When there weren't any tables for 2 in the shade, we selected a table for 4 that was. She... More

It's not your typical Japanese restaurant! No hibachi and fried rice here! We went looking for good sushi and we found it. We were on a short weekend visit and this was recommended by the hotel. Easy to find and a short walk from the parking lot. We got there just before the crowd. It doesn't seat very many people,... More

I just got back from Japan and was missing some GOOD broth and udon noodles. My daughter, who lives in Asheville took us to Heiwa Shokudo one night when it was cold outside and a little drizzly. When we got there it was full so, they took our mobile phone number, said we could wait in our car and called... More

I've been to Japan 15 times and eaten at many Japanese restaurants in Japan and US. This is among the best. I had the large Sashimi special which was fresh and had a large variety. There was a lot of fish for the money. I had the 1/2 portion of Kitune Udon which was authentic and large for a 1/2... More

Title says it all. Me and my husband moved to Asheville from a city where we were used to eating top notch sushi and Heiwa is our go-to. Forget Wasabi, if you want fresh fish, this is the place for you. May not be up your alley if you like very americanized sushi on fancy plates but if you like... More

This is one of our favorite places for lunch in Asheville and it's because of the wonderfully delicious noodle soups. My husband always gets the Executive and I always order the Medicine Man udon soup. Fantastic flavors, awesome broth. Service can be hit of miss. We had a pleasant server on Friday. We look forward to our next visit to... More
