For the third year in a row I have hosted a Christmas Eve gathering at the Grovewood for a group of my nearest and dearest. This year there were 32 of us. Everything went off without a hitch, as usual. Great food and great service. But you don't have to take 31 friends there to enjoy this wonderful place. Go... More

I have heard varying reports but our experience was very good. Location, food and the service for a family function was just right for us. Had a light lunch and the seafood chowder before the family arrived and I was impressed and am already making plans to return. They catered our gathering and everyone enjoyed it. Be sure and make... Location is convenient to the grove park inn. Unless you need to eat immediately it is worth the wait to eat at any restaurant at the grove park. Grovewood cafe has average food, but the service is awful. 10 minutes to get greeted. Another 10 for drinks. Restaurant was not even busy. Server seemed out of place and forgot our... More

The exterior of this little cottage is beautiful, leading one to think the interior would be similar. It is not. It is like stepping into a harshly lit cafeteria with a temporary rolling bar. No table cloth on the table, the waitress dropped very poor rolls on the table with a plate of butter sitting on top and never even... More

We went to The Brovewood Cafe for Christmaas dinner. The atmosphere was not very inviting. The lighting is poor with only flourescent soffit lighting on the ceiling. There were no votive candles on the tables, and no wall sconces to bring light down to the human level. We had trouble geeting a glass of wine while we perused the menu.... More

Saw the Mother's day special menu online ($35) and wrongly assumed Christmas would be similarly priced. If I'd known it was the same ($50) as the dining room at Grove Park, I'd have taken the family back there for all-you-can-eat. That said, Grovewood Cafe was a decent choice for Christmas Day lunch. Small portion salad, oysters or soup as first... More

Yes- it's fresh food, true. Not sure it warrants such high costs however. Older crowd, and depressing inside. Great service. Much better options in Asheville. I guess it's so close to Grove Park Inn (and this place is not affiliated); older folks go. I'm 58, but it seemed like a retirement community in there ;)

Not worth the price We tried this place because we found a Groupon. Otherwise we would not have stayed with a lunch menu that was that pricey. The outside looks like a cute little cottage. Inside is anything but. They could use some decor to match their outside appearance. The cheapest lunch plate was $12, going up to $20 something.... More

We had only been to this restaurant once before and it was years ago for lunch. Sadly, this time, we chose to go for Thanksgiving and .... we had to return the meal as the salmon had a really fishy odor, we were sat near the window and they then surrounded us with one group (over 20 people) and we... I can't say enough about this darling restaurant. We ate on an upper terrace, surrounded by the gorgeous trees and local art. We highly recommend a meal outside in cooperative weather.
