Description: While we revere the time-honored traditions of the Southern cook, you will find our take on the Southern plate a little different. Because Tupelo Honey Cafe is a little different. Our transformation of just about everything Southern - from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish - is decidedly spirited, independent, and frequently unscripted. Creativity rules in our kitchen where our larder is filled with scratch-made, inventive goodness. We ratchet up our flavors so they're on par with the farm-fresh produce we love. And we serve it all with a healthy measure of fun - with our heartfelt promise of delivering an experience worthy of the memories that tend to be made around our table.

I live in Asheville and have visited T.H. downtown two previous times. My third visit was last week on a Thursday evening. Arrived about 5:45 for an early dinner. Here is the scoop: The good: --Got a table outside without a wait --Server was engaging and efficient --The biscuits and jam were delicious --Side salad (with sandwich) was generous size,... More

I love a farm-to-table style meal with great service, and this is that kind of place. The wait was over an hour and a half, in a row of restaurants where others were just waiting a few minutes. That alone said a lot. We were so glad we endured the wait. The portions were huge and our food was bursting... More

Dined early as we were hungry and to beat the crowds. Still pretty crowded but no wait time and service was fine. Noisy and cramped but acceptable if all you want is a good solid meal. Just solid food with some nice vegetable choices, southern style. Nice portions. Hard to find much lo fat/ no fat other than veggie plate... More

This place was great. Menu was huge with lots of options. Plenty of vegetarian options for my wife. Service was great and the food was delicious. Restaurant was hopping for a Monday night! Highly recommended!

Everything was just wonderful. We had a large party and we were seated in a decent amount of time during a busy Sunday. Service was fast and the food was delicious.

Stopped in for a bite while shopping in the area. Our party of four included two vegetarians and everyone found something delicious to eat. The complimentary biscuits were outstanding. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and the food was quick to arrive. The shrimp tacos and the black bean burger were highlights. Would definitely go back the next time... More

A group of us met up here for lunch. This was our second time visiting this restaurant and it was as good as we remembered! Started with the fried Okra, which we all thought was good. Entrees we tried included the fried chicken and biscuits with white gravy, sweet potato pancakes with granola, breakfast pie and grilled cheese with tomato... More

Complimentary buscuit not quite done. Doughy in center. Tofu wings overdone. Too crispy to cut with fork. Male waiter talking too loud. Saw two waiters use hands to get lemons. Charleston chicken sandwich was good but slow getting here. Our waitress was friendly.

This restaurant provides southern food with a twist. It is a must stop on your foodie journey through Asheville. They have great food, and an excellent craft beer selection.
