Description: While we revere the time-honored traditions of the Southern cook, you will find our take on the Southern plate a little different. Because Tupelo Honey Cafe is a little different. Our transformation of just about everything Southern - from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish - is decidedly spirited, independent, and frequently unscripted. Creativity rules in our kitchen where our larder is filled with scratch-made, inventive goodness. We ratchet up our flavors so they're on par with the farm-fresh produce we love. And we serve it all with a healthy measure of fun - with our heartfelt promise of delivering an experience worthy of the memories that tend to be made around our table.

After driving most of the day to get to Asheville, we arrived to a 1.5 hour wait at 3 pm on a Saturday. We decided to wait it out and it was worth the wait. Every chicken dish was spectacular, but especially the pecan crusted chicken breast with gravy. And, they start you off right with homemade biscuits and blueberry... More

A giant moist pork chop with a red wine sauce and figs was OMG. It came with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus. Of course the bread was a yummy biscuit with Tupelo Honey. My wife still talks about how good it was. Bartender was friendly and made it fun for us eating at the bar. By the way I ordered... More

We went early so we did not have to wait for a table. By the time we finished, it was very crowded. I was very disappointed with their onion soup which was more cheese than onion. My burger and fries were satisfactory but a bit too salty. My husband had a difficult time finding something to order but he settled... More

This was our first time and came highly recommended by our hotel concierge. The food was very nasty, the place was standing room only but I have to say...the service was very slow and tables were very close, the lady next to us was eating alone and we felt like we were eating with her, we actually ate was she... our waiter was great. I ordered the lowest cost item on the menus (toasted cheese sandwich and onion soup). It is also most likely the highest profit selection. The soup was great and the most southern pimento cheese sandwich was particularly appealing. Our waiter was really an effective server and his support team (and fellow servers) were equally willing to... More

The food was very good. We ate outside and enjoyed the weather and the sandwiches that we were served. The food was fresh and tasty.

Great restaurant. After a long day of traveling, we search Trip Advisor for a restaurant for the evening. We found TUPELO HONEY CAFE. There was a short wait but it was well worth the wait. We had an awesome dinner of MEATLOAF, Asparagus, Mac and Cheese, Fried Okra (which was the best we had ever had in any restaurant). To... More

Tupelo Honey Cafe is a quaint little restaurant located in downtown Asheville. The food is delicious southern cuisine, with their own twist on traditional favorites. I have not enjoyed fried okra such as the okra served here since my grandmother made it for me as a child. Even I have not been able to replicate her recipe as well as... More

But Tupelo Honey Cafe will convert you! Shrimp and grits with goat cheese and a hint of spice! This is what living a great life is all about. Great food! It is worth the wait, although as a party of one I didn't have one :)- YAY ME.

My husband and I had lunch at Tupelo's this past weekend. The hostess estimated an hour and 40 minute wait for just two people (there was about a dozen people in line and many more had been given pagers), so we took a pager and set off to walk around Downtown Asheville. About 35 minutes later, much to our surprise,... More
