Description: While we revere the time-honored traditions of the Southern cook, you will find our take on the Southern plate a little different. Because Tupelo Honey Cafe is a little different. Our transformation of just about everything Southern - from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish - is decidedly spirited, independent, and frequently unscripted. Creativity rules in our kitchen where our larder is filled with scratch-made, inventive goodness. We ratchet up our flavors so they're on par with the farm-fresh produce we love. And we serve it all with a healthy measure of fun - with our heartfelt promise of delivering an experience worthy of the memories that tend to be made around our table.

We initially were looking to eat dinner at this restaurant on a Friday night around 7 pm, but the wait was over an hour. We came back the following Monday night and were not disappointed. There were $2 drink specials to start the night off. I ordered the fried chicken BLT and my wife ordered the tomato soup (the call... More

A great place to eat, with an interesting menu composed of new Southern dishes (Southern cooking done a new way). The blueberry punch is great, entrees very filling and tasty, and then there is the banana pudding!

We were at the one downtown with another couple. We got there early and actually got a table within 5 minutes. By the time we left the wait was well over an hour and a half. The food is phenomenal, which explains the crowds every night. The service is also very good though not much time for small talk as... More

Tupelo Honey Cafe is one of my very favorite restaurants in the Asheville area. Because of parking problems downtown, we always go to their site in south Asheville. Everything I've ever ordered there has been good, especially the shrimp and grits. They serve "downhome" food with an occasional twist; for example, fried okra. I would strongly suggest making a reservation,... More

In general the food, service and atmosphere were excellent but the overall noise level was quite high often rendering my guests comments unaudible.

This is a great place with 2 locations in Asheville and several other southern cities. This is excellent southern food with biscuits and honey. I had the chicken which was great.

Family dinner outing ranged from breakfast for dinner, shrimp and grits, veggie plate to chicken sandwich. Everyone was happy with their choice. No wait for seating, but it was a unusually early dinner time.

We had been on a previous visit to Asheville (a weeknight in June) and enjoyed a pretty good (not great) meal at Tupelo. But on a Friday or Saturday night in September, it was impossible to get in. They don't take reservations, so we were out of luck. It would have been fun to sit outdoors and enjoy the Friday... More

I love this place! The food is delicious, the service is great, and the atmosphere is calm! You've got to try their homemade pimento cheese! To die for! And...that famous sweet potato pancake. Hmmmm....good! I also love their smashed cauliflower, tomato soup, barbecue, and the list goes on! Such a great place to try unique dishes with quality food items!

We've lived in Asheville for 20+ years and I remember when Tupelo Honey downtown opened - it was our go-to place after staying out late - and the fried grit cakes never disappointed. Then it started to get SUPER popular, couldn't get a seat without waiting for over an hour for breakfast (lines for BEFORE it even opens) and then... More
