Description: While we revere the time-honored traditions of the Southern cook, you will find our take on the Southern plate a little different. Because Tupelo Honey Cafe is a little different. Our transformation of just about everything Southern - from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish - is decidedly spirited, independent, and frequently unscripted. Creativity rules in our kitchen where our larder is filled with scratch-made, inventive goodness. We ratchet up our flavors so they're on par with the farm-fresh produce we love. And we serve it all with a healthy measure of fun - with our heartfelt promise of delivering an experience worthy of the memories that tend to be made around our table.

Was in the Asheville area for business and one of our local partners recommended Tupelo Honey Cafe. The big draw for me was when he mentioned the shrimp & grits, which turned out to be very good ... especially if you like it a bit spicy. As others have mentioned, it is crowded and the tables are indeed close together.... More

The food was very good. I got the shrimp and grits and let me say it was very tastey. I am not a big fan of biscuits but they were very good with the jelly and honey. It was very cramped the tables are just about on top of each other. Our waiter was great. Overall a great place to... More

Not sure if it met my expectations after the wait, but still worth a stop. I loved the chicken sandwich, but the fries were way too greasy.

After eating in some eclectic restaurants on our trip to Asheville, it was nice to settle in for a burger and some soup. This is a restaurant where you can feel at home and know that you are among friends. The okra was awesome and our waitress Leah was top notch. Would go there again in a minute.

My wife and I stopped here after attending a concert the previous evening at the Biltmore. Having eaten at breakfast places throughout the country, our expectations weren't to high... That was a mistake, the food and service were excellent. As others have said, the biscuits are arguably the best anywhere, we would agree. Ffing stupid good. I told my wife... More

The food we had quite good. My smashed sweet potatoes were amazing and the chicken fried steak was wonderful with a great creaming sauce. The biscuits with honey and blueberries were always a nice little start to the meal. It was a bit loud inside since it was so busy but I thought it was tolerable. The server was also... More

Being a lifelong Southerner, I have evolved past much of my traditional diet, but this is so called Southern cooking with imaginary and contemporary twists. It is hip, yet well done. It is immensely popular, so be prepared for crowds. The menu is good as is the food.

Great food but crazy busy. Bring lots of patience. Unique offerings. Waiter was attentive but hostess stand was not so.

We started with a spinach salad. I would highly recommend that. It had spinach (of course), shredded carrots, pickled onions, fresh goat cheese, toasted spicy pecans and cherry tomatoes. Yum! They served biscuits with some type of jelly and they were good. Also had the "southern popcorn" aka fried okra and it was amazing. My wife wanted to eat that... More

We had dinner there one night and the biscuit with honey was soooo delicious. My chicken sandwich was OK as the chicken was tough for some reason and I eat mostly chicken. My husband tried the bbq pork with fried okra and it was good loaded with fried okra. He also liked the kale as he had never had it... More
