best meal out...ever!

I'm not a vegan, but do eat vegetarian food predominantly, but my vegan friend took me to dinner here today when I visited Asheville. If you're vegan it doesn't get any better than this. This is a splurge but so well worth it. This is the place you go with a date or a special occasion. It's classy, the service is great and the food is fantastic. Nothing is a la carte, it's all specials cooked and sauced to perfection. This is what fine... More

Appetizer was awesome - Jerusalem artichoke. Portobello mushroom was ok - nothing special. Lemongrass seitan - very spicy even though we asked for not spicy. Service slow.

What a treat to be in a restaurant that specializes vegan food. I had the raw lasagna and it was amazing. Before that we shared appetizers- Brussels sprouts, beets, plantain and Jerusalem artichokes. Each dish was spectacular, the flavors were amazing. Love this restaurant and will visit it again when we return.

We tried the wild nettles udupam, grilled tofu, and a couple of other items. In general, unique flavors, herbs. However, TOO heavy on the salt. The chef needs to use more variety of herbs and spices and rely less on salt.

We spent only two nights in Charlotte back in December so I spent a lot of time going through restaurants and chose this one based on the mostly good reviews as well as its vegan/vegetarian fare for me, and which my meat-eating husband also enjoys trying. First, although we had reservations for 8:00 pm, we only got to our table... More

We live in Asheville and Plant has been a "special occasion restaurant" for us for awhile since we have a vegetarian family member. Last night we celebrated a birthday with dinner at Plant, and the one question we asked ourselves was, "Why don't we come here more often?" The food was creative, delicious, beautifully presented...the staff was really kind and... More

Once in a while you have a dining experience that knocks you off your feet. That was our reaction to dinner here. Not just the new flavors (like peppercorn macadamia cheese) and spectacular presentation (who knew you could chop avocado into such tiny cubes on the uttapam), but delicious too. Not much to look at from the outside and décor... More

We arrived without a reservation and were lucky to secure two seats at the bar counter. It was Saturday evening around 6. The place was full so next time we will make a reservation. We started off with the cheese plate, followed by entrees. The cheeses, served with apples and light lovely sauces and grilled foccacia, were a delightful start.... More

We ordered very good cocktails, an average salad, standard fare for entrees, and two good glasses of wine. We went here because it's rated #6 on TripAdvisor, which should mean an outstanding restaurant in this foodie town. I can only think a vegan bias exaggerates Plant's comparative rating in a town with so many more excellent restaurants. When you add... More
