We wanted to try them but found this on their website.. We wish to thank all our loyal Green Light Café customers who have supported us both in our Asheville and Black Mountain restaurant locations. Due to the increasing demand for our catering services and festival participation, we feel it necessary to focus on those aspects of our business.

I would have rated this pleasant place very good instead of poor, but the pseudoscientific misinformation regarding the purpose of chlorophyll in the drinking water was too much for my rational mind to bear, and I consider it my civic responsibility to provide the following comment: Because the structure of the intact chlorophyll molecule is in the same category as... Nice counterbalance to BBQ and heavier fare. Creative dishes, tastefully prepared. When dairy was an issue for one of us, they quickly found an alternative. Chlorophyll in the water was a nice twist.

This is a quirky little restaurant. I wanted to go because they had such a plethora of vegan food yet still choices for my carnivore husband. I have to say the water they serve took us by surprise. The water is filtered and then has chlorophyll added (yes the stuff that makes plants green). The water had a very refreshing... More

I've lived in the Asheville area for 15 years now. And finally Asheville has what I consider to be an excellent vegan restaurant. I'm not saying some other places aren't good, but none of them have what all adds up to the best of everything: great food, great service, and great prices in a really nice "good feeling" atmosphere. This... More

I love this place! The food is great, service is very, very friendly yet efficient. I feel like I'm being served by an old friend. I like to eat there during lunch a lot. But when friends come to town, I love to take them there for an evening meal. They have all been quite impressed, including two of my... More

Pear salad without the pears? Unfriendly service. This restaurant needs a thorough cleaning.

Since it was a beautiful day, my wife, son, and a friend drove from Greenville, SC on our motorcycles to Asheville to have lunch. We usually eat at another vegetarian restaurant in downtown Asheville. After reading numerous reviews of the Green Light Cafe on the Happy Cow eating guide, we thought we would be adventurous and sample an alternative vegetarian... More

NOTE: THIS PLACE IS COMPLETELY VEGETARIAN / VEGAN; they don't serve meat. I love that!! I ate here today for the second time. I had the tempeh reuben sandwich (it's the 4th reuben at different places I've had in the last 5 days!). It was very good. Plenty of tempeh and the sauce and other stuff on it was very... More

Always get the special. This restaurant is like heaven for us vegetarians. They have a good selection of appetizers, dishes and sandwiches. All of the veggie pates are like nothing I have ever eaten. So get the special and the pate sampler platter for starters. The staff is very friendly and will nicely explain anything on the menu that you... More
