What constitutes "New South Flavors?" For us, it is begins with reverence for those time-honored Southern dishes. Served up by wonderful home cooks for years. We respect the freshness, the flavors and the food itself. But we like to jazz it up a little, add something deliciously unexpected to delight your palate. Our interpretation of traditional Southern fare is creative, inventive and satisfyingly scrumptious. Cheers to New South Flavor!

Good food, but pricey

This restaurant is located in a shopping mall, and we had a problem finding it during rush hour traffic. The food was good, but pricey for what we were served. We had good service until it came time to pay the bill. By then the waitress had a lot of tables to cover and didn't return promptly. It... read more

Tupelo Honey is an Asheville tradition. Great southern food including some interesting sides plus small plates so you can mix it up a bit.

Start to finish, an excellent experience. "Draft" gin and tonic ($5) is made in big batches but you'd never know it - tasty, light and served w fresh sage sprig, clever innovation. Menu clearly notes Gluten-Free choices. "Changing Leaves" spinach salad was fantastic, very fresh and artfully balanced ingredients (especially the goat cheese). Had it with spiced shrimp, a perfect... More

We visit here when we want a nice meal out for ourselves, with our toddler, or when out of town family visit. We've never had to wait, the staff is always very friendly, it is very family friendly even though the food is not your average family friendly fare (the kid's menu is perfect for youngsters). I've never had anything... More

Love the opportunity to go to the south side Tupelo honey. Finally had the banana pudding and must say it has become my fave!

I go to Tupelo Honey South whenever I'm in Asheville, and have had great meals every time. Their tasty take on Southern cooking is not to be missed! A new menu featured juicy, tender curry fried chicken - recommended by the waitress and something I would normally not order, as I am not a fried chicken fan. But wow! Their... More

The restaurant was packed on Mother's Day. They now take small group reservations. We had a reservation and were seated in 5 min. in the outdoor area. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I had the shrimp and grits and my wife had the mountain trout. My daughter tried the fried chicken fillet sandwich. We all enjoyed our meals... More

Always dependable for any meal...those biscuits and honey go with any meal. Our group sampled most of the menu and was not disappointed. Food for all likes.

I am a meat man. Pork ribs and Ribeyes. Have been aware of Tupelo Honey Cafe for years but finally decided to get out of my comfort zone and try out the cafe in South Asheville. The cafe tends to run to "fru-fru" organic gluten-free types of dishes. I knew this going in but the havarti and cheddar toasted grilled... More

I went with a large group so it was a limited menu selection. Meal started off great. Biscuits - awesome. Some sort of wonton appetizers also great. I went with the fried chicken for main course. It was just ok. Dessert was also ok. So the appetizers made the meal, in my opinion. The service was very good and the... More
