What constitutes "New South Flavors?" For us, it is begins with reverence for those time-honored Southern dishes. Served up by wonderful home cooks for years. We respect the freshness, the flavors and the food itself. But we like to jazz it up a little, add something deliciously unexpected to delight your palate. Our interpretation of traditional Southern fare is creative, inventive and satisfyingly scrumptious. Cheers to New South Flavor!

An Asheville favorite

Friends joined my wife and I for a relaxing supper at one of our favorite Asheville restaurants. I had the Tupelo Shrimp and Grits especially prepared with half the spice which was perfect for me. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich with the broccoli slaw which she loved. One of our party had... read more

My husband and I have been trying to get in for awhile. Everytime we go there is 45 minute wait. (we do go at prime time) We waiting a quick 30 minutes this time. I was overjoyed to learn they cater to GF people (I am not GF my choice) I had an egg's Betty (play on Eggs Benedict) Good!!... More

Had an early dinner at the Tupelo Honey Cafe South, based on some recommendations from friends who eat here when they come to Asheville. We were very happy with our meal! We ate at the bar and the bartender was a very personable and attentive; as lovers of shrimp and grits, when she said that was one of the things... More

I have eaten at this location, and the location in Johnson City, TN. Both locations were fabulous! If you admire the atmosphere, hit up the location in Johnson City if you can. That location is in a re-purposed train depot. It's an amazing spot, which amazing food of course. If you are just going for the food and don't care... More

We read a lot of good reviews and thought we would give this restaurant a try. Great decision! We were told the waiting time was 30 minutes ( only waited 20) but we did go at peak lunchtime so plan accordingly, if you choose lunch hours. Also, parking was an issue at this time of day. The sweet potato pancake... More

The staff and server were so kind and friendly. It was a busy night and full of families and couples. We were seated on the covered porch but requested a move as it was too cold for us. They had no issues helping us out. The food was good but definitely felt a bit like cracker barrel where you had... More

I love both Tupelo Honey locations. But perhaps the South Asheville location more... I like the fact that parking is much easier, and the food overall tastes better! I don't feel so cramped in this space either. Great service and yummy food are what makes this place a MUST!

This is a very popular eatery. Went at lunch and had about a 35 minute wait. Interior is upscale industrial and is beautiful. Waiter quickly brought biscuit and jam. I'm not a biscuit person but I tried this and oh my just delicious. Had sandwiches which were wonderful. If you like okra this is the place. Fried perfectly. Too full... More

The food is not the problem, although I found it overpriced. The restaurant is not clean enough, e.g. the floor where I slipped and had to call their attention to the need to do a bit of mopping...stuff all around here and there. Crowded, loads of families with little kids and noise. Dining on the "porch" is not fun because... More

I love when we happen upon a place all 5 of us agree upon! Especially now that we have a picky teenager ;) There was a wait, but it went quickly. We occupied ourselves next door at a free trade emporium, which was fun. They texted us when our table was ready. Drinks: We sat outdoors and were NOT dressed... More
