My wife and I have just returned from eating at Tupelo Honey Cafe South, and it was just as good as everyone says; in fact it exceeded my expectations. I would characterize the food as "Southern influenced," not really "Southern," but the label is irrelevant. It is the quality of the food that counts. I ordered a plate that included... More

My wife and I ate here while visiting a friend from the area. The food was very good especially the fried green tomatoes. My only complaints with this restaurant is that their menu is not child friendly not even the childrens menu and my nephews burger was almost cooked to crisp but we did not notice this until we were... Tupelo Honey is sort of an Asheville institution, but I've only eaten there twice in my eleven years in the area. The first time, about a year ago, I was blown away by the deliciousness of my vegetable sandwich. How did the chef coax so much flavor out of those ingredients? I was so impressed that I decided to take... More

I was in town visiting friends and they took me to this restaurant. The food was AMAZING! I definitely recommend reservations as the place was packed. The service was fantastic and all of our meals were so good. And the biscuits they serve instead of rolls were out of this WORLD!!! I definitely recommend a stop here next time you... More

So good we ate there two of our four nights in town. Shrimp & grits were excellent, as was the grilled salmon. My favorite was the chicken picata with shrimp. Heaps of perfectly fresh and perfectly prepared asparagus, drop biscuits & preserves, and banana pudding. Great Southern cuisine in a low-key atmosphere.

Had the downtown grilled cheese with onion bisque for lunch, it was an amazing meal. The service was quick and the staff was very friendly.

A small southern chain restaurant that serves meals similar to my southern family. Tried the sparkling blueberry punch drink...which sure is! The braised pork chop was served with mashed sweet potatoes & asparagus...fried okra would have been preferred over the figs, but overall not bad as the sauce has a touch of heat. Locals seem to favor this place...always a... More

The south Asheville Tupelo Honey Cafe is the same as the one in downtown Asheville just seems less crowded, That doesn't mean you won't wait, just maybe a little less. Everything is good here.

Our server was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Food was good and the complimentary biscuit was great. Prices were reasonable and it was a nice casual atmosphere.

I'll echo the observations of mad4nc, and we are locals not far from Tupelo Honey South. Once upon a team, this was a great establishment to get a decent glass of wine, sift through a menu of old favorites and items that were going to be available for a period of time, get pretty good service, enjoy a good meal,...
