Variety of flavors all homemade ice cream!

The Hop Ice Cream Cafe seemed to me to be an Old Fashioned Soda Fountain but it lacked atmosphere. My hot fudge sundae made with homemade carmel salt ice cream and wet walnuts would have tasted so much better in a sundae cup. It was good and the hot fudge and whipped cream were homemade, but the... read more

Amazing ice cream. Everything is made in house with local ingredients. All sorts of flavors from the usual suspects to the crazy (mustard anyone?). They have all kinds of vegan and vegetarian options too. They even have ice cream for dogs. This is the place in Asheville for ice cream. Go to all their locations!

Interesting but unimpressive flavors. The place didn't feel clean to me. I gave the counter girl a $20 and she was totally mesmerized by the fact it was an older $20 bill. She even stated that she would take a "gander" at it later. Hmmm... Not worth the trip down Merrimon Avenue. Find another that's worth the adventure.

This ice cream cafe came highly recommended through the Internet so we decided to skip the local Dairy Queen and try out something new...after all, we were on vacation. We used GPS to find the ice cream cafe. As we arrived in that part of town, we saw people walking down the street eating ice cream cones and ice cream... More

The last couple times I've the beet swirl in a homemade waffle (monster) cone. Once with toasted coconut and once with some exotic chocolate. Get a single w two flavores. The double was ridiculous. The fudge brownie w ice cream, hot fudge and 3 inches of whipped cream 'bout took my breath away. Keep telling myself I'm getting that next... More

Visited based on other reviews. Absolutely will visit again. Great/unique flavors to choose from. Couches, bar tops, tables, outdoor seating and a TV area/play area for the kids.

I loved the unique selection at this ice cream shop and the neighborhood vibe. I had the Honey Basil Peppercorn ice cream that was better than any ice cream I've every had. Yummy!

A nice chill place to stop if you are near UNCA and Merrimon Ave north of downtown. The ice cream is super delicious and rich. Casual enough for kids and the family. I hear the other treats are good but that will be a second visit to plan.

The hop is a family (including dogs) friendly establishment with lots of unique flavors. The staff is friendly and doesn't get weird about you asking to try things (blueberry kale!). My dog loves the puppy scoops! The ice cream also seems to be free of dye... which in my book is pretty awesome.
