We tried the fish wrap, chili fries, chicken pakoras, samosas, and chicken tenders from the kid menu. Everything was delicious and hot, quickly served. The samosas were spicier than expected. Thankfully, the chicken tenders were served with plain old ketchup. We will be back! Every bite was inhaled, and even though we only ordered a snack we were stuffed. Great... More

We tried this restaurant 3 times during our stay. Chaat items taste really awesome. Dahi batata puri and vada pav are my favorites here. Thali's are good too but one time they served some spinach curry and it was awful. Also if you like Mango lassi dont order that here. It tastes really bad. We are vegetarians so cannot speak... More

If you live in a city of any size, it gets hard to find anything surprising. But once we wandered into Chai Pani, I'm really miffed that we don't have this in Charlotte. Bhel Puri reminds me of something I got at a street festival but could never find again; it's impossible to describe but addictive. Okra fries are one... More

This is another busy downtown Asheville restaurant. They say this is Indian Street food and if that is true , you can eat well on the streets of India. I have eaten here before and like that time my preference is to come with a group and order many items to share. This makes it into a small plate experience.... More

This food is delicious. The curries are awesome and so tasty, the green mango salad appetizer is like music to your mouth, and they use locally sourced food. We always head here first when on vacation in Asheville. It is our favorite.

I've been a fan of Indian food for a long time, but was surprised to find terrific place for the first time. The waiter, although she was fairly new, knew the menu and was very helpful in the selection of several small plates. The food was good and spicey although I would have preferred a little more heat, the kind... More

We've been to Chai Pani at least a half dozen times over the past few years and it's always excellent. The staff is friendly, the food comes quickly, and there are so many great dishes to choose from. We recent;y took some less food-adventurous friends here and they all loved it. I's definitely a must in downtown Asheville.

Asheville has a decent restaurant scene; but this place really is fantastic and affordable. I was travelling w friends and the 4 of us ordered thali to share with some extra rice it was just enough! So delicious! If you love Indian this is a sure bet.

My son, nephew and I enjoyed a late afternoon lunch at Chai Pani on Saturday, 6/28. Even at 3 pm, the staff was energetic, friendly and accomodating. We ordered more dishes than we knew we could eat, since the boys had no experience with Indian food and I had only eaten Indian food about three or four times myself. I... More
