Street food in India? I don't know but give it a go!

This is four stars for restaurants in its class. We've been there a number of times in the last many years in Asheville. It's laid back. The waitstaff is consistently good and attentive. We had the cheese fries, sloppy Jai, samosas and side salad. All were very good, although I found the Jai a bit salty. Service was attentive but the wait for food was extraordinarily slow, and the restaurant was not full.

They have what they claim (and I have no reason to dispute) is an original recipe from childhood. Very thin sliced okra fries and season lightly with lemon etc. Great fun! We ate outside at the last open table -- its is quite small.

Our first visit to Chai Pani was a success. All the outside tables were filled so we were seated inside. Our pleasant server (Maggie) took our orders -- a vegetarian thali and a butter chicken thali. Everything was excellent. The main dishes were accompanied by two types of Indian bread, a lentil soup, another spicier stew, cole slaw, yoghurt and... More

The taste of India right at your fingertips. As a missionary who has visited India on a few occasions it has been difficult to find Cuisine that is reminiscent of the nation...the chef is spot on! One word... Awesome!

This is by far the best Indian food, I have ever had in my life. I had the fried egg plant, I have never had anything like it. I would love to go back and have it. My husband, he can't remember the name of what he ate, but he absolutely loved his food!!!

This place has very good food, nice atmosphere, and good prices. It isn't fancy and it is not always quiet, but the naan, papadum, and other fare is delicious!

I'm not a big fan of "street food", and I only occasionally care for Indian food, so, when my daughter wanted to go here, I went, only because I'm a Good Mommy -- and, I want credit for that. But, sometimes, Varina seriously knows her food!!! I shall go back, many times! When you go -- and, if you are... More
