Having just had my first meal at Chai Pani, it has become one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Asheville. The menu is eclectic and the food has amazingly intense flavors with the perfect amount of spicy heat. Wait staff extremely helpful with their recommendations. A couple sitting next to us said they frequent Chai Pani whenever possible and EVERYTHING... More

I don't know a whole lot about Indian food, but I'm glad I tried this place. It's tiny, but tables turn over quicklY, so we only waited about 20 minutes. The server was patient with us and spent time explaining the menu options. I ordered a samosa and the sloppy jai. She said each of those were "medium" spice-- but... More

Chai Pani is hands-down one of my favorite Asheville restaurants. I could eat there every day and never get bored. On this particular visit, a friend and I shared chicken pakoras (deep friend and crunchy) and an uttapam (dressed up flat bread) - both dishes were awesome, I wish we were hungrier when we sat down, I would've kept ordering... I do love this restaurant. It's Indian street food, and it will take you a long time to figure out the menu. But once you do, it's delicious! My favorite is the Sloppy Jai ... perfectly seasoned ground lamb on a toasted bun ... small yet filling. Warm and cozy ,,, and lovely!

We had been hearing about this place, but this was our first opportunity to try it, and it was ideal for a cold, blustery day. We don't know much about Indian food, although we love what we have tried, so a little more explanation about the various dishes would have been helpful. Still, a helpful waitress, and a decision to... More

Loved the prices - much cheaper than most restaurants in the same area as this one. Cool, fun atmosphere. Food was okay. I like the idea of their menu and I like that it's easy to share food with your whole table, but the food was average. I probably won't go back.

Amazing food. Have been there a couple of times, a couple of years apart, and the same result. A little bit of a line, but it's a small place. They also really need to have more than one toilet for all patrons. But the food is absolutely great. I had the tilapia wrap both times, and it is absolutely amazing.... More

We arrived right at 5:30 after reading about the long waits and the popularity of this restaurant. And, nearing 6, a line formed. Chai pani is popular for a reason. The atmosphere is au natural and down-to-earth, and the menu has so many options, that coming back to try it all sounds reasonable. For my first visit, I tried the... More

Service was good, waited outside with other parties until doors opened at 5:30, was seated third. Street food portions were smaller than expected but were very good. Main dish was a little bland, didn't have the Indian food smack in the face of flavor I was hoping to expect. I would recommend to others but with normal Indian food expectations,... More

Everything is good. food smells awesome and taste authentic! street food concept is very fun. maybe because of that is what it focused on i find the main dish is a little lack of kick!
