Not being all that familiar with Indian food in general, we didn’t know what to expect from a restaurant featuring “Indian street food.” On top of that Chai Pani doesn’t take reservations, and we didn’t want to stand in a long line outside. Our apprehensions were diminished almost immediately because the hostesses offered to have us wait in the bar... More

We went to Chai Pani for dinner saturday night and expected to have a wait for a table. When we were finally sat, we were sat at the bar, which is fine. Our bartender/server was extremely inattentive and not helpful at all. He seemed annoyed by us wanting to order food! Also, our appetizer came out at the same time... More

We saw this restaurant while walking through downtown Asheville and liked the ambience, so we decided to give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised to find the staff very friendly, the menu reasonably authentic with a little twist, and the service prompt. We ordered the Chicken "Thali", which was tasty and simple. The Bombay Chili Cheese fries were delicious,... More

Green Mango Chaat was terrific, especially paired with the Chicken Pakora. Tandoori Fish Wrap, also terrific. Server, who was great, gave us Matchstick Okra Fries, a surprise treat. Service all around was excellent. Atmosphere was bustling and laid back. We have had many so-so experiences with this cuisine... places we wouldn't go back. Chai Pani is an exception. Terrific experience.

I was in for lunch and had the "sloppy joe". It was unbelievable. So good I wish I could eat every meal there. I keep dreaming about going back. When in Asheville, absolutely do not miss eating here.

Awesome food at the beautiful place with a awesome environment. We tasted their thali and some of chats. All were outstanding with traditional Indian tastes. Really loved it and wish to eat many more times :-)

Stopped by here during the small plate crawl to finally check this restaurant out. Such a disappointing evening! To start with, my husband ordered the special spiked chai. The menu indicated it could be served hot or iced. He requested it iced, and even repeated it to make sure. It arrived at the table piping hot, no ice in sight.... More

Absolutely delicious food! We arrived and the staff made recommendations which were absolutely deeeelicious...which they were closer to home cause I'd become a regular. There is a great young vibe but all ages are there eating. As a Canadian I am used to smoke free restaurants. Fortunately we were done when a group of young people arrived and lit up.... More

Was amazing service. Affordable prices. Seems to be popular . We had to wait for a while. This is the most crowded Indian restaurant I have seen in US so far. They don't take reservations . So we had to wait about 30 minutes for dinner. Still it's worth it. They give free refills for Chai !!! . And the Samosas... More
