This place is simply great. The coffee / espresso and drinks are really delicious. The counter-culture book selection can't be found in one location anywhere. If you're in Asheville, enjoy quality coffee and want to support unique, local business - don't miss this stop. Try the Vanilla Affogato; double espresso with locally made vegan vanilla ice cream - yummy! The... More

Laid back and with a little grit. I get the feeling it operates like so many coops from back in the day...sometimes well and sometimes frustrating. This Friday morning it was a bit slow but worked for me. Cinnamon Cubano took a while but was well done. Bagel with cream cheese was hot and fresh although halfway through I remembered... More

Finding this place can be a challenge. It is around the back and underneath the Thirsty Monk which is on the corner of Patton Ave and Asheland Ave. They have alot going there best to check just to be sure.

This location is great. There is some parking in the back, a little in the front (free after 7pm), and there is a hilarious mix of people coming in and out the doors. If you like co-ops, worker collectives, political lit/signage, strange birds, cafe food, being a veg*n, or (like me) all of the above, this is an amazing place... More

If you're into progress, meeting amazing people, and an overall good vibe, this is the bookstore/cafe for you! They have an incredible selection of books, and all sorts of unique events taking place. Definitely worth a visit on a lazy afternoon!

This small establishment is interesting in many respects: It is owned and operated by the workers, offers a glimpse of Asheville's bohemian side, serves vegan food, and has an unusual collection of socially conscious books. The brewed coffee and teas are excellent. Fortunately for us, Firestorm is open until 10 PM. We visited on a Saturday evening when we could... More

If you want a taste of Asheville's locals scene with vegan food and good coffee, Firestorm is the place. They always have some sort of local unique event going on in their back room, staff is always nice, and they have an interesting selection of books. Sometimes the customers can be a little, say, eccentric, but that's all part of... More

I've been here twice, the first time I got food which was okay, but several bugs were crawling all around my table which made it very unappetizing. The interior is shabby and honestly, I'm not sure about the hygiene of everyone. Saw several homeless people just hanging out in there. Asked the two guys behind the counter for a manager... More

This is a very nice small bookstore. It has a great vibe. It is definitely a place you can just hang out in if you needed to take a break or kill time. They also have a nice cafe with gluten free pastries, which I appreciated as someone who is very allergic to gluten. It is also a worker owned... More
