We were driving through Asheville around dinner time and my wife came across a review of The Admiral. Sounded interesting so we decided to take a chance, drove past it twice before realizing it was in fact the small cinderblock building on the corner. With a bit of hesitation we entered only to find the most pleasant surprise, a room... More

Our favorite restaurant in Asheville. A place so popular that it's difficult to get a reservation, and if you walk in you might be lucky enough to get a seat at the bar. A place where you know your meal will be beautifully presented, served professionally, taste delicious, and be fairly priced. We had out-of-town company and waxed poetic about... More

This used to be my favorite restaurant until 4/2//14. The service was very slow though it was not crowded. Salad was sent back because it came with onions though was specifically asked for NO onions. Mussels had little of their normally delicious sauce. Pork hop presentation was ugly. I ordered cheese plate which I always have. It came after everything... More

We ate here during our trip to Asheville, & while the building is less than appealing, the food is great! It was all very fresh and well prepared! Also, a wide variety of choices! Make reservations in advance!

MAKE A RESERVATION WAY IN ADVANCE! We had great service and wanted to try everything on the menu. We passed on the entrees and instead did five small plates. The salad/entrée table next to us had food envy and inquired what we were having with each course. The server, Lizzy, was friendly, helpful, and efficient. We had everything we needed... More

Don't be surprised if your initial impression of this restaurant is underwhelming. It's in a cinder block building in a not-ritzy area, but the food transports you to foodie Nirvana! The menu includes a variety of appetizers, small plates and entrees, and everything our party tried was outstanding. The entrees are paired with unconventional sides that really mesh. Highly recommend... More

The outside appearance of this restaurant does not do the quality of the food and staff justice. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The care that went into the preparation and the variety of offerings make this a place to return to. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful evening out.

Four friends plus five plates plus one dessert = happy time. There's plenty of variety to choose from in the small plates, and although they are small, there was plenty to go around. The star of the show was the curry fried chicken. Hands down the best dish we tried. I hope they never take it off the menu. The... More

The Admiral has a creative menu with delicious choices. We enjoyed their imagination and their service. The sweetbreads were excellent and are not found on many menus in the USA. Their selection varies from day to day and season to season, so check out their menu online. The setting is quite unusual -- a cinder block building with varying paint... More

Girlfriend trip! This is our Asheville friend's favorite restaurant. Stuffed dates and sweetbreads appetizers were amazing and I don't like sweetbreads! Three of us had ribeye steaks that were perfection. The steak sat on top of mashed potatoes that were to die for. Don't let the outward appearance put you off. Don't miss this !
