High class country eating

Laid back environment, very welcoming to all. Drinks pretty good and a wide selection of different foods. A place to come and bring friends and share everything on the menu!

My daughter from Austin Texas gave me a gift certificate at this restaurant based on its reviews, site unseen. If she had seen it from the outside, we would have missed a memorable meal. The interior seating hold 12 four tops and an open bar. The dining looks into the kitchen which is about 5 by 14 feet and hopping.... More

Very familiar with most Asheville restaurants but the requirement of a reservation was off putting to our spontaneity. Started with chilled Lima bean soup and husband had escargot. Great choices. Followed by lamb chops and flat iron steak . All cooked perfectly. Ask for Holly - charming and attentive.

First, book early. If you want a table, make sure to make a reservation on opentable in advance. However, if you are ok with sitting at the bar, we were able to walk right up to the bar around 6PM on a Friday night, with no problem. Food was great, and great cocktails. My wife had a new york sour.... More

The night we went to The Admiral, their menu was incredible. The food was cooked perfectly and the flavours were paired perfectly. The location is fascinating. It is definitely a high quality, fine food establishment, but the building itself looks a bit like a communist cell block from the outside. I don't mind that, but it is quite unique. Highly... More

OK. The outside definitely does not look inviting. An old car parts store. The food is great. Limited menu that appears to change frequently. Started by splitting the arugula salad. So good. Simple but perfect. I had the shrimp with rice noodles and an Asian citrus, ginger sauce. So often the shrimp are over cooked and rubbery. These were tender... More

By far the best food in Asheville, and a place where the food is actually worth what you pay. The interior needs some upkeep. There are far too many places around Asheville trying to pass off their lack of attention to detail as urban or green. Make the environment compliment the food!

My boyfriend & I decided to try The Admiral due to the positive reviews. We came early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us right away. The wine menu was clearly thought out and featured delicious wines. We ordered the ribeye which was served with a twice baked potato. It was cooked perfectly & delicious! We... More

Don't be put off by the exterior...this is a gem of a restaurant. We had friends tell us about the Admiral and we are so glad we were able to get a reservation. Fabulous food, fun atmosphere, and our server, Holly, was just the best. Only thing wrong with this place is it is so far away from our home... More

This is sublime food. Don't let the exterior of the building scare you away. Put on your jeans, make a reservation and go! We tried the arugola salad with humboldt fog, the Vietnam tacos with fried oysters and many other things. The menu is limited with only a few choices in each category. They know what they're doing here and... More
