Asheville is home to a cultural and taste experience at Kathmandu Cafe. Indian, Nepalese and Himalayan foods emit the most glorious scents filled with spices that are warming & delicious. What a taste treat! Something for everyone--lamb, beef, chicken and lots of vegetarian choices. The bread (naan) is mouthwatering and the Mango Lassi-- a popular, traditional, yogurt-based drink from Bangladesh,... More

The lunch buffet was really good. Ample selections and all very good. Plus vegetarian fare if that is your thing. Hit tea was really good..pleasant decor and great downtown location

Our server was friendly, and the food was really, really amazing! Definitely give it a try. We got the non-vegetarian dal bhat (basically a sampler) and it was delicious! Will definitely return next time we come to Asheville.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, and really really good food. We got one item each from the Tibetan, Nepali, Tandoori, and Indian sections of the menu. Everything was fantastic. Great place.

I suppose it is actually Nepalese but it's very similar to Indian food. We had the dinner buffet and everything was delicious! On par with Mela (the most popular Indian restaurant in town).

A first for us. We've been to Asheville many times, and I am so glad we had dinner at Kathmandu Cafe. As I type this, I am eating my leftovers (Aloo Cauli- hot), wishing I was still there. We were first in for dinner, and our server was smiling and friendly. I loved the decor. It took me out of... More

This is the first time I've tried Nepalese food. It was fantastic with umami flavors. The place is a bit overly decorated, but look past that and you will enjoy authentic Nepalese food. Service is okay, too.

Sooooo greasy. Everything was incredibly full of oil. We had Vegetable Pakora and used a stack of napkins to squeeze out the oil and soaked many napkins through. We had Narvaratna Korma and the coconut cream had separated so it was overcooked vegetables with very little sauce and the sauce that was there was lumpy and bland. We also tried... More

We welcome any fair and genuine critics from our customers as we see them as a way for improvement. But the descriptions of our dishes in this review is far away from what we serve. Our vegetable pakoras are not oily at all and also we do not provide any paper napkins but linens and for Navaratana korma we use... More

As a local, this has recently become one of my go to places. The lunch buffet is varied and well prepared. It is my fav for Indian type of food now as it varies more than the other options in town. The dinners are well prepared and show that time and effort is put into the food. Their house special... More

After living in the Asheville area for 9 years we finally decided to try this restaurant and what we discovered was exciting. It is like walking into a nice Café in Nepal with an exciting and varied menu to match. Immediately seated by a server in a comfortable location, menus were given, questions asked and knowledgeable information provided. We opted... More
