A first for us. We've been to Asheville many times, and I am so glad we had dinner at Kathmandu Cafe. As I type this, I am eating my leftovers (Aloo Cauli- hot), wishing I was still there. We were first in for dinner, and our server was smiling and friendly. I loved the decor. It took me out of... More

This is the first time I've tried Nepalese food. It was fantastic with umami flavors. The place is a bit overly decorated, but look past that and you will enjoy authentic Nepalese food. Service is okay, too.

Sooooo greasy. Everything was incredibly full of oil. We had Vegetable Pakora and used a stack of napkins to squeeze out the oil and soaked many napkins through. We had Narvaratna Korma and the coconut cream had separated so it was overcooked vegetables with very little sauce and the sauce that was there was lumpy and bland. We also tried... More

We welcome any fair and genuine critics from our customers as we see them as a way for improvement. But the descriptions of our dishes in this review is far away from what we serve. Our vegetable pakoras are not oily at all and also we do not provide any paper napkins but linens and for Navaratana korma we use... More

As a local, this has recently become one of my go to places. The lunch buffet is varied and well prepared. It is my fav for Indian type of food now as it varies more than the other options in town. The dinners are well prepared and show that time and effort is put into the food. Their house special... More

After living in the Asheville area for 9 years we finally decided to try this restaurant and what we discovered was exciting. It is like walking into a nice Café in Nepal with an exciting and varied menu to match. Immediately seated by a server in a comfortable location, menus were given, questions asked and knowledgeable information provided. We opted... More

Went to the Kathmandu Cafe for the second time this past year. I had the lunch buffet which was very good. The food is very similar to Indian food so if you like that, you will surely enjoy Kathmandu Cafe. Good variety of food options to choose from and friendly staff.

The Sunday lunch buffet has a nice selection and is priced at $8.99. The Mango Lassi drink is very flavorful. I would recommend a lunch stop.

Several of the folks in my group were quite surprised at the heat level of our dishes. Mine was essentially inedible but there was no warning on the menu and no mention by the waitress. I would think that the unique nature of the menu would warrant some information sharing or inquiries by the waitress as to whether we knew... More

We tried this place for dinner last night and very pleased. The menu was a bit overwhelming, so I opted for the vegetarian combination and my husband had the non-vegetarian combination. When we sat down, we were served water in interesting metal cups. The server was friendly and helpful as she explained the dishes on the combination plate since I... More
