Thai Tara is occupying the space vacated by Thai Basil and so had pretty big shoes to fill. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai I had for lunch was more Chinese than Thai, with inappropriate added cabbage, broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, bay corn, and snow peas, while missing the green onions promised on the menu. The entree came with a complimentary mixed... More

I love Thai food and Thai Tara is extremely close to where I live so I tend to give this place more business than I would if I lived elsewhere. That being said, I have always enjoyed myself here, particularly when eating outside. The location is lovely. The servers have been kind to me. The food while just being mediocre... More

Enjoyed the outdoor dining area and service. I believe it is family run and they are very welcoming and pleasant. I was not very hungry when we arrived, but could not stop myself from eating ALL of my duck with red curry. Will be returning when I am in Black Mountain.

Went here with family. When we walked in there were several tables filled with patrons. My husband notice immediately that there was only one waitress for the whole place and one woman behind the counter. He said, "be prepared to wait" there is one server here. He was so right. We were seated immediately and then sat, and sat and... More

We loved Thai Basil. Wonderful food. Always looked forward to eating there when in Asheville. We noticed the name has changed to THAI TARA. Decided to try anyway. Looked like same management, but the food was just NOT as good. There was little flavor. We each had a different meal and all lacked that special "thai" flavor. We will not... More

Ate outside for the ambience, and had a great gustatory experience with the stuffed chicken wings. The owners and staff are very pleasant and will modify flavors to some degree upon request.

Started at the top of the lunch special menu and ordered #1 pad thai, which is a good way to see what kind of place a Thai place you're in. I was served what was essentially a slimy sweet and sour sauce on mushy rice noodles. The mung bean sprouts were brown and shriveled on the root end. Just 2... More

OK, first of all, this place has changed its name to THAI TARA but the ownership and chef and staff are the same. The prices are slightly skewed upward, but not unreasonable. I love Thai food and this place has never disappointed me. Whenever I visit a Thai restaurant I always order TOM YUM GOONG soup. I love it. It... More

We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was very good - right there and willing to answer questions for my in-laws who had never tried Thai food. My husband and I have had Thai all over America and this is one of our top 3 Thai restaurants. Their satay chicken was good, but their curries are fantastic.... More
