Good Food with a good crowd

The place has good home cooked food plain and simple. They are very good at adding something to something you have all the time that makes it a bit different. The food is fresh. Went for lunch and the place was full of working class folks grabbing a bite to eat.

First, let me start by saying that I am a loyal return customer of Luella's. On a recent Friday night visit I was very disappointed to find that they no longer offer a rib plate. I was very confused as I tried to place my order, I told them what I wanted, a half rack of ribs with two sides,... More

This place wasn't much to look at, but when you see the parking lot full of cars, you know it's good. They have a combination plate - choose your own meats and sides. The brisket and ribs were great. The beans were very tasty and the collard greens made the meal! A wonderful NC BBQ dinner!

We went on valentine's day..we wanted a low key, easy meal. We went early and they said it was a 30 minute wait. It ended up being 10, at most. Service was quick and the food was delicious.Very reasonable prices, would go again.

We went to Luella's last night before the UNC-A basketball game. The service was fast and friendly even though they were packed. The food was very good. They also had a good selection of local craft beer. I recommend this restaurant for casual dining and look forward to returning.

The barbecue here is good but nothing special. They have 2 types of sauces a vinegar based sauce and a ketchup based sauce. The vinegar based sause was tasty but was difficult to use because it kept separating. The ketchup based sauce was about average. They had a wide variety of different meats which was good. They also had a... More

Deviled eggs were extraordinary as well as the pork and brisket. But the piece de resistance was Luella's Lusty Mustard. I brought home 4 jars. Incredible on everything!

Food was great! The service was friendly. Prices were reasonable. It was an old, established, family run restaurant.

Read numerous trip advisor reviews. Decided on this Barbecue because we had tried Moes barbecue a year earlier. Stick with Moes. This barbecue tasted bland and had fat and all chopped up. The calico beans were a nice change and delicious. The hush puppies were excellent. More of a roll puppy than round. Could have eaten a dozen of these.... More
