During a trip to the Carolinas, we met some friends from Tennessee here on their suggestion and they were right: this place is TERRIFIC! It's off the main highway going north out of Asheville and isn't somewhere you would just stumble into - too bad because it certainly deserves to be more frequented. (One friend's parents had spent their honeymoon... More

We lived in Germany for eight years in the 70's and 80's. Since that time we have been trying to find authentic German food in the States. We have not been successful until this evening. From the appetizers to the main course, the food evoked memories of the wonderful culinary experiences that we had many years ago. We highly recommend... More

My wife and I (and our 2 month old baby) ate here for our 5 year anniversary and we enjoyed ourselves. Overall the atmosphere is great, themed as an old restaurant in Bavaria and traditional music filling the atmosphere (at an appropriate volume I should add). The food was excellent, my wife had a cheese brat and I had the... More

The meal and service were both excellent. We were there on Valentine's Day, and even with the crowd, the service was quick and attentive. The meal was the best German food I've had outside of Germany. The Vienna salad, Rolladen, gravy and spaetzle were so good that I'm searching the internet for recipes to duplicate.

This is a small restaurant in a log cabin structure in North Asheville, NC. It is a part of the motel that included a room where a part of the movie, "Thunder Road", was filmed. The menu includes a number of fine dishes, such as Jager Schnitzel (my favorite). The list of beers is outstanding. I have been there before... More

different type of food and décor, not a franchise always good to try something new and this a good experience, and good food - bought some extra Vienna Salad and their dressing to bring home and fix for the family.

Maybe it is because I live in Europe and can dine in Germany when I choose. But this log cabin German Bavarian style restaurant just didn't cut the mustard. There was German bier, which satisfied, but the sausages . . . well, go if you must. I suppose there aren't that many German style eateries in western North Carolina, but... More

We planed to eat here on our annual trip to Grove Park. We drove down from Boone in time to have dinner here before we checked in. Got to the restaurant and ]walked in and stood at the front door for a few minutes, no one spoke to us. There was maybe four tables eating and some waiting with no... More

The Schnitzel is very bland. You can tell the potato dumplings are not made from scratch. They do not serve Pomme Frites. The only good thing I can say would be about the beer and the friendly server. Would not go out of my way to visit again.

If you were here when this place opened several years ago and were not satisfied, try it again. It changed hands and the last two times we were there it was really good. Try the schnitzels, several varieties and you can choose pork, veal or chicken. They also make their own sausages, which are quite good. Very large portions. In... More
