Loved the chicken, pork and ribs. I suggest the blue-berry chipotle on the side. Too much for me. Will return again and again. more

Ok, so you have to wait in line to get to the cash register to place your order. And you have to take a number and find a table. And it is in an old non descript building in the Arts District. And then the food arrives at you table on 12 inch metal pie plates, smokey and hot. The... more

Oct '09 The food at 12 Bones is awesome! The ribs were perfect and the BLT is a definite for next trip there. Wish I could have tasted every side! Smoked Potato Salad is great. Thanks to Trip Advisor reviews, we now have a favorite place to eat while in the Asheville area. Don't worry about the wait line -... more

This place has no pretense, located in a quasi-industrial area west of downtown Asheville. The BBQ is outstanding, and you get to pick your own sauce. We had the pulled pork sandwiches, which were excellent. Didn't try the ribs or sides, so can't comment on them. But from our experience and what we've read, this place is the real deal. more

12 Bones is fantastic, and we wished they had been open for dinner, too. I highly recommend the smoked turkey - incredible!! But if you do order it, I'd recommend the platter - meat - and not the sandwich. My turkey sandwich came with cheese, bacon, and a creamy sauce. For me, these detracted from the amazing smoky flavor of... more

We found 12 bones purely by accident. Great ribs, tender and not slathered with sauce. As others have commented, very busy at lunch time. more

After all the great reviews we finally caved in and went to the Arden location. First off, I don't consider this 'real' BBQ. If you want real, and real good, BBQ drive down to Flat Rock and go to Hubba Hubba. That said the food was still pretty good overall. Good ribs, OK pulled pork, super smoked potato salad. The... more

the ribs are AMAZING! so fresh and tender, melt i your mouth good! Also the corn pudding and sweet potatos rock! Come early as the line was 60 people deep out the door by 12:15pm, we came at 11:30am and there were only a few folks in line. The place is super clean and the staf are great, a must... more

The ribs are incredible. Moist, meaty, tasty without tasting smothered. Go there for the ribs. The sides have really declined since opening. They used to be incredible, but for the most part have since down-slid to institutional. Not bad, just taste sorta processed. Greens are still really tasty, and the jalapeno grits are really good. Everything else is so-so. The... more

Being from South Florida, I thought Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons was the ultimate in down home cooking, until I experienced 12 Bones. It was recommended by the friendly tour guide from LaZoom Comedy Tours of Asheville, There are two locations. I ate at the one that was not downtown, but very close to downtown. Only open for lunch,... more
