Staff is aloof to say the least. On there verge of obnoxious. The coffee and tea however was superb. Our group had a good laugh and didn't not let the snooty baristas bother us.

Mary, Sorry to hear about the service you had. I hate that you were left with the impression of aloofness and even more so if you felt the baristas were snooty. I would like to hear more about specifics if you care to share with me directly through our website: highfivecoffee.com ... the contact link goes to me. It is... More

I really liked the atmosphere of this place. The coffee was very tasty. I had three different drinks over the course of my stay in Asheville, and all were very good.

After giving an honest (and I thought - quite complimentary overall) review of High Five, I was met with a completely abhorrent response/message from the owner. This completely sealed the deal for me with High Five. And, looks like he did the same with another customer who complained. I won't be a patron in the future. I really enjoyed the... More

I won't spend time explaining my response to your initial review because it speaks very clearly for itself. But I will respond to your retort and say that as a business owner I am certain that even though customer service is our primary job, it is not our job to be a door mat for anyone willing to spend time... This is great coffee shop. Really, it is. But seriously. I could feel more unloved by the people behind the counter. There's some sort of snooty behind-the-counter hipster culture that goes on in this place. Every time I order, I feel - stupid! I get half smiles and blank stares. Nothing warm or inviting about the people who work here.... More

avler, I will respond simply with disappointment for the rather childish and over exaggerating character assassination that you have painted with a large brush over my entire business and the baristas that serve coffee there. Your review leaves one thinking that each barista serving coffee at High Five is some sort of "blank-staring" "hipster" with nothing better to do than... More

We stopped here twice during our recent trip to Asheville and both times we found superb coffee drinks. AND during our second visit, we were happy to hear The Cure playing in the background. AND the very best Dark Chocolate drizzled Coconut Macaroons I have ever had. Thank you so much for the good sounds, tastes, and buzzes that we... More

I absolutely love the coffee and their efforts to make all their syrups in house (the vanilla is amazing)... but, I've been in many, many times and I have yet to get good service by the people at the register or the baristas. They look like they are perpetually angry at something and very often make rude remarks like I'm... More

I am sorry that you seem to have a bad experience when you visit High Five Coffee, but I would like to point out a couple of key components of giving useful feedback. First of all, as the overwhelming number of reviews indicate, we have a friendly and professional crew of baristas. Your implication that they appear angry and you... More

High Five Coffee Bar on Broadway in Asheville is still one of my favorite coffee shops, although they changed their name from "Dripolator (which was one of my all-time favorite coffee shop names) last December. It's the same friendly staff and the same great coffee. They know me even though I live in Chapel Hill and only visit every few... More

Best espresso in Asheville based on my experience, but of course I use Counter Culture coffee at home so they have an advantage there to start with. Nice location and cafe with plenty of room. Only issue is they are on the slow side. So if you have some time and don't mind a short wait then this is the... More

I just returned from Italy and found high five coffee to have coffee/espresso/cappuccino that stood up to ridiculously high Italian standards. Treat yourself with a beverage from High Five.

I love good espresso and this to me was the best espresso I've had outside of the Pacific Northwest. The espresso had a nice creaminess to it and a little citrus as well coming through. The food was okay, nothing to write home about or reccommend.
