My family and I visited the Moose Cafe on our way back home from a 1-night stay in Asheville on July 12th, 2014. After reading about the restaurant on TripAdvisor, we decided to try it out and to say we loved the food and service is an understatement. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated with... More

The prices are good here and the biscuits are great but the rest of the food is just ok, service was not very good either

we had lunch and dinner, and they give you pretty good portions, my husband had chicken livers for lunch and he ended up having the leftovers for dinner that night. Dinner was chicken and dumplings, to die for, we had mac n cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy, we ate it all. desert was blackberry cobbler and we had to... More

Homemade biscuits and apple butter are brought to the table when you sit down. Catfish fillet was tender and oh, so good. Not like a lot of places where you get a lot of batter and just a little bit of meat, this is one hefty fillet. Homemade chowchow for your pinto beans is an added bonus, and blackberry cobbler... We visited as tourists, what appeared to be a very local joint after seeing a write up in AAA magazine. It is quaint and country. Almost Cracker Barrel like in atmosphere (minus the giant country store). Giant biscuits are served with cinnamon apples and molasses. I ordered the fried chicken. The white was dry but the dark was wonderful. The... More

My husband and I saw a highway sign for a Farmer's Market, then a sign for an "award winning restaurant," farm to table fare. I was thinking hippie type atmosphere. Well, the restaurant actually was more like "home cooking." The ketchup on the table had corn syrup in it, and there was a little basket of margarine. Not exactly what... More

Moose Cafe, located at the entrance of North Carolina's Farmers Market in Asheville, has got to be "One of the Best" eating establishments we have ever found. Country cookin' is their specialty... served with flavor, taste and lots o' fixin's. Sorghum syrup on the table for your B-I-G, homemade biscuits (all day long) was a bonus. Refreshing drinks were served... More

Never had "Farm to Table" food as bland as the Moose Cafe. Fast Service, reasonably priced, and large portions. Big family on a budget will enjoy the experience. Chicken livers were over cooked and the hot bacon dressing spinach salad was underwhelming.

This restaurant is located right next to a farmer's marker, where they claim they get their produce. And it tastes like they do. Fresh veggies and county cooking. Doesn't get much better than that.
