Jeff had a taste for good fried chicken & everyone said Moose's. boy were they right. started with those biscuits & apple butter. I don't care for most apple butter as there is too much cinnamon for my taste. this is really good & you can buy a jar for $5! Jeff had the fried chicken w/coleslaw <of course> &... More

Located next to the Asheville farmers market we were disappointed not to have found this sooner. Visitor information should really promote this rather than the expensive soulless independent restaurants in the centre - shame on them. We popped in for coffee when visiting the farmers market only to find a delicious sounding menu so we had a very early lunch,... More

All country cooking. Large portions deliciously prepared. Friendly service. Caters to groups. Priced very reasonably and right next door to the Ashville Farmer's Market

On of the previous reviewers was correct in that this restaurant doesn't reflect the "Farm to Table" connection except that the menu offerings are the kind of meals that as kids we used to eat on the farm. The chicken and dumplins were southern style--just the way I like them. All the food was "comfort" food which was exactly what... More

The 'Moose' was just down the street from where we were staying at the Asheville Cottages, and we needed some good ol' homestyle comfort food. Boy did we get it! I had the fried 'double' chicken breast, mashed potato's and a side salad. My honey had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes (both w/ white gravey) and pinto beans. Before... More

While settling into the area, we were still searching out restaurants nearby to eat. While pulling into O'Charleys, we spotted Moose Cafe and made a quick change of plans. Underneath their "Moose Cafe" sign it says "Farmers Market" and again on their menu and website it states "Farm- to - Table " Restaurant...immediately we were stoked and excited...thinking we found... Stopped by this cafe while traveling with friends after reading the reviews. The food is so good, we ate dinner and returned for breakfast. The chicken and dumplings are thick and creamy with all white meat. The hamburger steak and gravy was seasoned perfectly. At both meals our waitresses were excellent. We bought two jars of Apple butter on the... More

When I looked for a place to eat while in Asheville, I stopped by the Moose Cafe by the Farmers' Market in Asheville. They say they use the same produce that the market sells. Well the selling point is the size of the food. First the biscuits are the size of small dessert plates and the food portions are huge.... More

This is a must stop for true country cooking! You may have to wait a few minutes for a seat but you can sit outside or enjoy the view from inside. Prepare yourself for lots of good food and ask for a to-go box if you can't finish. The taste is fresh and it should be because the farmer's market... More

We ate a late lunch at Moose Cafe in Asheville and enjoyed every bite! The chicken, country fried steak, grilled chicken and all the veggies were really good. The before biscuits were great and quiet large with apple butter. We had about a 15 min. wait to be seated and it was 2:00 PM. I tell you this to prepare... More
