Unexpectedly Very Good Food, Prompt, and Pleasant Service

Without having much of a reason to have such expectations, my wife and I were not expecting anything other than (at best) average food at the concession-run NPS Big Bend Chisos Restaruant. This is pretty much the only game in town. Unless you brought your own food. (Which is a really good idea). The food was pretty good. We all got burgers. Everything from a bison burger to the spicy burger. The fries were really good. They were sort of a curly fry, but really thick. It is a bit pricey. About... More

We ate here after hiking the entire window trail in 2 1/2 hours. Needless to say, we were HUNGRY! The view is fabulous, and the food was better than average. We had low expectations with it being in a remote location, but we were pleasantly surprised. Would recommend it to anyone visiting the park.

Food was very good, nice view of the area. Great place to cool off after hiking the Window Trail. Service was good, really looking forward to going back and watching the sunset thru the Window,

I've visited Big Bend National Park three times in three years and have had several meals at the Chisos Mountain Lodge Restaurant. The menu is diverse with dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, hours form 8:00am to 8:00pm every day. The dining room faces one The Window in the Chisos Mountains, one of the premier views in the park. Enjoy... More

My husband and I spent two wonderful nights at this lodge and loved every minute of it. The views were breathtaking and the staff and accomodations were lovely. My thanks goes out to Steve, who worked at the front desk. He was wonderful to talk to on the phone and gave us terrific information on which trails to hike. While... More

The lodge is a great place to take in the views of the surrounding mountains. We didn't stay there, though we drove up to look around and get something to eat. It was later afternoon, the restaurant was almost full, and the only tables were in front of the west-facing windows. Made it rather warm to sit there, so avoid... More

From other reviewers, we weren't expecting too much. But, we were very pleasantly surprised! We stayed at the lodge for 5 nights, and ate many meals there. Every meal - from breakfast to the lunch they packed for us on the trail, to the big dinners, were just delicious. The staff were courteous and were really interested, it seemed, that... More

Food and service was great. I can not say enough good things about it. We were surprised to find such a quality restaurant hidden away in the middle of a giant park. Great sunsets.

The location is amazing - ceiling to floor windows as well as a terrace overlooking the mountains. I was very surprised to find such an interesting menu considering how remote the location is (I was expecting fries and hot dogs only), but there are burgers, steaks, fish, salads etc on offer. We stayed for 4 days so I tried quite... More
