Decent Greazy Spoon

Ate here the first night I was in town. Decent greasy spoon food. Filled with locals. View of the sea. Enjoy!

Breakfast was good. Lunch so.so. You have to remember that Nome does not get supplies like mainland places do. Right on the Bering Sea. Fun to watch the gold dredged at work.

I lead birding field trips into Nome Alaska every May-June. This year my group eat every breakfast and dinner at the Polar Cafe. First the service was the best. The new waiter Jeffery was very attentive for dinners. The breakfast waitress how has worked here for 15 year was so on top of her job we all loved her. Check... More

This is your typical diner. I have had breakfast here a few times but no other meals. Breakfast was your basic eggs, meat, bread... nothing special but certainly GOOD

Polar is located in the heart of downtown Nome. They have by-far the best view of any restaurant in Nome which overlooks the ocean. They have the best breakfast in town. Their portion sizes are larger than other restaurants in Nome. They have a small salad bar, the only one in town. The restaurant is clean for Nome standards. Polar... More

Nome is a no frills kind of town. So long as you understand that, you will soon see that the Polar Café is one of the best places in town to eat. The menu is quite extensive, the portion size is huge, the staff are all wonderful and the views are amazing. I was in town for 5 days and... More

The Polar Café is where you need to go if you are looking for breakfast before 8 am. Really good home cooking, lots of locals and visitors, and really nice art on the walls. The waitresses were friendly and accommodating of special food requests. The ladies didn’t even look at me sideways for ordering oatmeal instead of the reindeer sausage.

Went there with two of my coworkers for breakfast. U seat yourself at this restaurant and we waited about 20 mins for a waitress. When we noticed a waitress serving other people who arrived after us my coworker called her over to let her know we have been waiting to get our order taken. She was apologetic and took our... More
