My husband and I enjoyed our special dinner at the Canal House. Not a lot to chose from on the menu, but what they offer, they offer well. We recommend i.

My sister and I came the canal house for dinner on our first night at harpers ferry because I read the reviews and was recommended by our inn keeper. First of all, for a not very crowded March night, we had to wait for 40 minutes for a table. Then when we ordered the soup of the day, it was... More

This small cafe has great food and nice atmosphere. Very comfortable. Small menu with daily specials. All made with fresh and seasonal vegetables and fruit.

This place reminded me of a home restaurant in Switzerland. And old building that clearly used to be a row house packed full of tables. The menu is short, and yet there is something for everyone. It was so very hard to choose! The dishes are perfectly crafted with fresh ingredients. Definitely a great comfort spot for a casual meal.

Tasty savory food, great service, cozy atmosphere, bring a bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy with meal. We started with the pimento cheese and toast and was given more toast so we could finish the large portion size of cheese, my wife had and devoured the Pork with molasses & johnnycake and I had the Trail blazer pie that... We had just arrived in Harpers Ferry after a delayed flight from the UK. We were in a rush to get something to eat before hoping to catch the guided ghost tour in downtown Harpers Ferry just 45 minutes later. Under these circumstances, the staff at the Canal House must have thought we were mad, i.e. requesting a table and... More

This was just the greatest way to end my day in Harpers Ferry. It is so homey and delicious. I got the butternut squash risotto and my boyfriend got the five cheese Mac and cheese. Both were wonderful. We then got hot chocolate and cider which was some of the best hot chocolate and cider I've ever had. We asked... More

We have stopped here twice to eat wonderful lunches. The special, cod chowder over rice was very good and my husband hopes I can make something similar at home. Their homemade wild mushroom soup was about the best I have ever tasted. The roasted chicken sandwich was very tasty and the smoked ham with Camembert, apple butter and Dijon mustard... More

We live in the community and had not eaten here. After a busy day full with holiday events, we decided to have dinner at the Canal House and are glad that we did. We had the Yorkshire Pudding and Beef Stew which was delicious! My son and I started our meal with the homemade tomato soup which had fresh herbs... More
