Great oyster happy hour

You can't beat $1 oysters anywhere, and in San Francisco that's an excellent value. The view of the Bay Bridge from the patio is fantastic, service is pleasant, and all around a great place to have a quick bite. $7 is a little pricey for French fries, but otherwise reasonable prices on beer... read more

We ate here for dinner while we were in San Francisco in Mid July 2015. The view of the Bay Bridge is outstanding but the service and food was even better. My husband and I shared the calamari appetizer and really enjoyed it. Different and far more refreshing than the 'normal' fried calamari. Really yummy! I had local Salmon while... More

My friend and I enjoy visiting cities and finding great food and fine wines/craft cocktails. We came across Waterbar in hopes of finding a waterfront restaurant with great food. Me being from Miami and my friend from Newport beach, we were happy with the overall appearance of the restaurant. The true test would arise from the choice and quality of... More

Initially came to Waterbar and they were fully booked for the next couple hours and it's only Monday. We waited outside where it said "please wait here to be seated". Nobody noticed us, for about 5 minutes. We went inside, where we were informed that we could find a seat at the bar or adjacent to the bar and order... More

Lunch is high energy experience. On my third visit I was disappointed to be told kitchen was too busy to accommodate my request for oysters. Every table was full. The bar and patio bustling with patrons. Still, I came for oysters. Lunch was delicious but the 45 minute wait was uncomfortable. Finally flagged the floor manager to inquire and received... More

Dinner with a group of 8 - including 4 kids - was great. Quality of seafood (halibut, sea bass, calimari) was all very good. Server was very attentive, and extremely patient with the group of kids. Not cheap - but the value was there. Incredible view of the bay bridge. Recommend and for sure would come back.

It's all great - from starters (Shrimp and oysters) to entrée (seasonal specials) and award winning desserts. They have a nice wine selection that pairs wonderfully with each course. Interesting fact - we looked around the room and saw happy eaters!

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
