Back to Sotto Mare for their seafood once again. Ordered the Scallops Saute and overall it was very good although the scallops weren't as large as before but the sauce was very good. 2nd visit: Ordered the always excellent Sand Dabs and they were fresh, tender and a generous portion with the lemon caper sauce on the side and vegetables.... What we could only say about this magnificient restaurant is the excellent service, excellent seafood plates and excellent price, the owner was all time pending what customers need, will sure be back when we next visit S.F.

the menu is not complicated but you go here for seafood and especially for the cioppino. You may need a reservation so try to make it by 6pm otherwise you may have to wait for awhile. They'll do their best to accommodate you.

As we arrived the owner and wife was extremely friendly, we waited for 40 minutes across the street at a great wine & beer bar and what a great table we had on the side walk since was a warm night in San Francisco. The Cioppino was delicious and enough for the both of us. The server was very nice... More

Excellent and great value. Simple menu. I had the seafood linguini and my wife had the prawns. Both were excellent. Salad was fresh. This place is simple and not fancy but I would recommend.

Our party of 3 had reservations for 6:30 pm and we were seated promptly. Our server was aloof but attentive. We ordered prawns, seafood risotto, and pasta with shrimp. The atmosphere was lively. The meals were tasty and fresh but nothing exceptional. Only an average experience for us.

Trip Advisor drove us to this small, folksy restaurant that fit perfectly as a pre-show restaurant for the Beach Blanket Babylon show just down the street. They rave about the cioppino, and how right they are. Wife and I could not finish it as it is plenty for two and the tastes just flow out of the tureen it is... More

My wife and I drove to SF to celebrate our anniversary, really wanted to try their chiopino, called from the road and they refused to reserve a table for a party of 2...as we are not the lying type..we didn't want to fake the size of our party....even our hotel tried and nada, we walked up to the restaurant at... Limited menu but what they offer is the best in SF by far. Small but interesting decor. Chipino is huge and enough for two big appetites! Service is friendly and good. A must for any seafood lover.

I found this place on tripadvisor and lived up to all the excellent reviews. It has about 20 tables but as I was alone I chose to sit at the bar. This was the best place as I was able to see all the chefs prepare the food. I had 1/2 dozen oysters to start with and then the vongole... More
