Oyster shooters, white wine, scallops, Bloody Mary's and bread and butter make for a delish lunch. I like to eat at the bar. It's a really chill place in fun Northbeach. I love it here.

We had reservations for four ~ a must ~ and were promptly seated while the line ran all the way out of the building and down the street. The waitress was very fun & helped us make some tough decisions from the menu. My husband & I shared the "Best Damn Chioppino " & it was. Salad wedges & bread... More

When visiting the city we only have time to eat dinner 3 times. We've eaten here several times and always debate if we should pass it up and try some place new. Half way through the bowl of cioppino we looked at each other and said, "Nope. We have to keep coming back here. It is just too good to... More

Fresh seafood cooked in an open kitchen, very Italian atmosphere, very busy for good reason. The shrimp in my pasta really made my day, mussels were also excellent.

Went on a Friday after the lunch rush, around 1:30 didn't have to much wait about 10 min. We were excited. We were in the city celebrating our 30th anniversary. We stared with the oysters on half shell. Tried the east coast and west coasts. Both delish, east coast much smaller. We had the cioppinno and it was very tasty,... More

If you are used to dining in San Francisco, the size of this restaurant won't bother you at all. I'll call it 'intimate'. The wait staff was great. The wine selection was limited, but the options turned out to be wonderful. And the crab cioppino! Amazing! Just a note: we are not dessert people, so this place was fine for... More

We're recent arrivals in North Beach and had been searching for a seafood restaurant among the pasta joints crowding the neighborhood. Stopped in early on a Saturday night. The Sothoth family are allergic to waiting in line to eat, but in the instance you can go to Gino & Carlo's, a few doors down, and they'll ping you. Sitting at... More

Good fresh seafood; limited selections. Meals include unlimited bread (bagettes); salad was basic (lettuce and tomato) but designed to be ordered with scampi or crab on top). Claim chowder was good. Restaurant is pretty cramped so best to go at off times

We had been in San Francisco for a week and were exhausted. we got up and out early our last day and were back to our hotel by 3 pm. My wife took a nap and I told her that we would forget about Sotto Mare and hit it next time we were in town. She agreed. After her nap,... More
