This restaurant is fantastic, the food is amazing. We had the oysters to start then a massive pot of seafood. You feel like your part of the family as soon as you enter & are well looked after. It's a not to be missed experience is San Francisco

I ordered "Linguini with seashells" and it was great!! The Location is really tipically like a real wharf! Added to your ordered meal you get infinity bread! ;D Go and try it out!!

After searching on TripAdvisor we ended up here for dinner one night. We did not have a reservation and the restaurant was packed so we did wait about 45 minutes or so for a table. Luckily there are some bars nearby. Make sure to ask for a buzzer so you can wait in a neighboring place. (They ask you to... More

Good traditional Italian restaurant, perfect for a sunny Sunday brunch or something alike. Nevermind some minor service flaws nor the ambiance quite decadent and concentrate on the delicious food.

Just came back from a quick San Fran trip, where this restaurant was on our list of must "do's". WOW!!!!!!! A perfect dining experience. Service was fantastic, the manager was welcoming and loves to sing with the patrons, and the food was second to none. Sorry mom to your home cooking, as you have truly been out done. Thank you... Sotto Mare has the best simply prepared seafood in San Francisco. The Cioppino is excellent as are the sand dabs (they are boned and you get about 12 on a large platter). The garlic sauce on the scallops is great as is the chowder. The prices are very reasonable for San Francisco.

We did lunch at Sotto Mare and got there early as heard it could be crowded. I see why. The oysters I had were the best ever! I also had steamed clams (great broth) and wife had fresh fish. All was excellent. However, by the time we left, EVERY seat in the house was taken. I would have to think... More

I visited SOTTO MARE on a trip to San Francisco three years ago - and I couldn't get the seafood pasta out of my mind. Even I yearly travel to Italy, I do love their seafood pasta - because it's very different from what you're getting in Italy. Yes, when in the US I don't need 100% authentic Italian food,... More

You walk in and not sure what to expect but the food was fantastic. Everyone was so willing to help you. Our waitress was polite but there where times when I felt she was too busy for us. During those times however other people working there were more than happy to help out. If you enjoy seafood this is a... More

They're packin' em in at this North Beach spot. The reservations we had made little difference, we still waited on the sidewalk for 40 minutes. Sotto Mare is a lovely room, long and narrow, painted a lovely robin's egg blue, and bustling with energy and many smiling faces. My dining companions' scallops and sand dabs were ok, not spectacular. The... More
