My bf and I shared the crab cioppino, it was amazing and easily could have fed a third person (especially with the free bread). The soup was about 80% seafood- very generous with the crab. I was really surprised as I usually find seafood in soup a bit off putting. Try to sit outside as it has a better atmosphere.

We had the west coast oysters, a cup of clam chowder and the chiopinno and everything was really good! The workers in the restraunt seem to never stop. They were on top of everything. One of the best lunches we have had in San Fransisco.

It comes in a jumbo tureen with big spoons. It can be messy, so they tie a bib around your neck before you dig in. It's delicious, the best we had in two weeks of cioppino-sampling in the city. And perfect for dinner when you have tickets for "Beach Blanket Babylon" down the street.

Fresh and tasty, bursting with flavor! We started with a selection of east and west coast oysters, some in the half shell and some as shooters, it was a great experience and so cheap compared to New Zealand prices! The portions are very generous and food was brought out fast by very friendly servers- there were absolutely no issues when... More

The cioppino may be the best I have ever had. The portion is big enough for 2 but it does come with a lot of pasta as filler. Parking sucks but that is to be expected. Service was average, they servers mostly talk to each other and the regulars, so getting refills can be slow. It really does remind me... More

From the waitress to the bus man this was a great dinner. Our favorite in San Francisco. The waitress recommended the ciopinno and we shared among 4 and we had leftovers. Not because we wanted to leave any ..but is a HUGE portion. Will definitely return when we visit san francisco again.

I walked in and waited 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged. We were seated at a tiny 2-top close to the door (we had to ask them to take away the large roll of paper towels that comes on every table and since there was still no room for my purse I had to put it on my chair... More

I agree with the menu that the Cioppino for $38 was enough for 2 people. The bread, clam chowder, grilled salmon, grilled filet of sole were all just average. Cioppino...excellent. We were seated in the underground, basement- like room which I did not like. The main level looked a lot more fun, but tables only seated 4 max (we had... More

This past Monday, we dined at Sotto Mare for lunch. We had thought that we would dine for dinner but sadly discovered that they were closed on Sundays (take note of that). The rescheduling worked out amazingly well, however, as we were able to dine on the outside patio and watch North Beach go by. Also, lunchtime allowed us to... More

The house specialty, the Cioppino, is a wonderful home cooked seafood delight. I never miss it on a trip to SF. Very simple set up, but the food is outstanding
