Good italian food

We walked along Columbus St and chose Pellegrini after looking at TA. The food is good we all liked our meals except the seafood pasta's sauce was bland. Everything else was great and the waiter tried very hard to give us good service. We sat inside and he also had tables outside. If I lived in this city I would... More

Very good pizza and anti-pasto. Their sandwiches are lame and not good. They should take them out of their menu. I tried their meatballs and did not have any flavor. Wife had chicken milanese and below average. Kids love the pizza, though. That is why I think their "cafe" next door to the restaurant is a better option. Very informal.... More

Perfect for a late lunch, we sat at an outside table and had a lovely view of Washington Park and other North Beach sites. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. The food was served promptly and delightful. I had gnocchi with a homemade marinara sauce. It was perfectly prepared. The pizza ordered was on a thin crust and had... More

Hey Vicente, if you are wondering why we only tipped 7.5% / $10, be happy it wasn't $0, which is what you actually deserved. The service tonight was absolutely atrocious! We were ignored all night and when we did manage to get someone's attention - which wasn't easy as they did everything possible to avoid eye contact - it seemed... More

This pizza place in North Beach serves great pizza. My family ordered four 10 inch pies last night: a margherita, a sausage and mushroom, Quattro formaggio and prosciutto. Each was served on a crispy thin crust. The chef did not stint on ingredients, all of which were fresh; i.e., no canned mushrooms. Our waiter suggested that we try the Serrano... More

Beautiful view of Washington Square and free parking in back for diners. Delicious meal with just what everyone wanted. Seafood pasta, Chicken and pesto linguini, and smoked mozzarella with sun dried tomatoe, prosciutto and mushroom rigatoni in an amazing sauce. The calamari was delicious (not the frozen kind) and the waiter paired dinner with a nice warm chianti in a... More

like most SF restaurants this place is busy so if you can book. the staff are lovely and make a huge effort to find tables for people. if you are eating outside the street tables are heated by overhead lamps to combat SF's chilly breezes. great pasta and gnocchi. :)

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
