Try the veal!

We tried this place on a friend's recommendation. Overall it was really good. All of us enjoyed our meals. I had the veal parmigiana which was excellent. The veal was well prepared and flavorful. The mista salad to start was excellent (Gorgonzola, roasted hazelnuts, Apple and fresh lettuce). The fettuccini bolognase was a little salty, the pasta a little over cooked but still pretty good, a huge portion. The house red was very quaffable (three glasses testify to that) and the service was first class. Sitting outside under the heaters was a great atmosphere.... More

We chose Piazza Pellegrini for a taste of North Beach Italian in San Francisco. The food was ok, but nothing I would return for, or recommend to others, given the variety of other excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood. The tomato sauce on the spaghetti was good, but the meatballs were surprisingly flavourless, and ground so fine as to have little... More

This restaurant had great reviews on Urban Spoon. We went with high hopes of a great Italian meal. Although the food tasted good it was just so-so for the price. Nothing bad but nothing to write home about.

If you get the chance to spend time in S/F for a few days please do. Not only for the "historical" landmarks, and the beautiful architectural buildings, which they're many. Just remember to look up on the Fronts and Tops of the Brick and Stone buildings it's remarkable the beauty of the early 19th Century you will still see, and... More

We loved our dinner at Piazza Pellegrini. The fresh crab was unreal, the short rib pappardelle was phenomenal, and the carafes of wine were a great value. Great service too! Would definitely come back on our next trip to San Francisco.

Planned to have Italian for lunch after the obligatory visit to Lombard street and found this restaurant unexpectedly before we encountered the main cluster in North Beach. Good, reliable Italian, al dente pasta, lightly grilled calamari and good selections of meat entrees. Meal was capped off by a nutty profiterole desert n decent Italian coffee. An excellent lunch enjoyed by... More

We sat outdoors last nite and had a great dinner, great service and wonderful food. I had the lasagna and my wife had the alfredo. Both dishes were very good, and the salads and bread were as well. beautiful

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
