Very good food

Ok, so I'm a gnocci snob. Well Piazza Pellegrini did not disappoint. Not only was the gnocci very good, but the service was quite good (very accommodating). The atmosphere is a bit more informal than some of the other area Italian restaurants, and there appeared to be many

I have to admit the food is delicious. BUT!, the service is horrendous. Waiting to be sit down the waiter passed us by some three times. From the door the kitchen staff can see the door as it is an open kitchen and yet no one notified any of the waiters. When we were finally seated. The waiter (Mexican) who... More

My son and I were walking back to our hotel and came across Piazza Pellegrini and we looked at their menu and decided to eat here. The restaurant is not that big on the inside but they also have seating outside with overhead heating in case it gets too cold. The atmosphere is very very Italian. The waiters greeted us... More

Best lasagna I've ever had! Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating servers! My husband wanted something spicy and we were told, 'pick whatever you'd like and we'll make it spicy'! Will definitely return

Great restaurant. Definitely a great place. A definite keeper. Pasta was homemade and fresh. Pizza as an appetizer was a nice change and moderately priced.

Fantastic, authentic little Italian place right in the heart of Little Italy. Great ambiance. Our group started with a tasty little pizza as an appetizer. Most of us had pasta in one form or another. House-made ravioli with pesto was incredible. Fettuccine with meatballs & pancetta was bursting with flavor. My wife had the pappardelle with short rib..."delicious, like having... More

We were walking by looking for a place to eat and came upon a lively sidewalk patio filled with locals. We were seated at the only open table. Service was prompt and helpful, although when we asked for a wine menu one server with limited English told they didn't have one. The food was mostly Italian comfort food (pizza, pasta)... More

No culinary magic here, but we were tired and hungry and this place had a nice little table where we could sit and watch all the other crazy tourists. The wine was good, the chicken parmigiana was good, the service was good. Probably a three star but I gave it four because the overall experience was just what we needed/wanted.... More

Traveled to North Beach via cable car and found this gem of a restaurant. Small and intimate, but classy. Had the BEST handmade spinach fettuccine with fantastic homemade meat sauce, to die for!! Shared a wonderful bottle of Moscoto with hubby. Lamb with polenta was perfect. Would definitely recommend!!!

Food - 5 (Desserts - 5++) Service - 5 (Like family friendly) Ambience - 4 (Think small sidewalk caffe') Price $$ Nice wine selection, by the glass or 1/2 bottle. Dessert is a MUST!!! Espresso! Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
