Great food with great friends

We had lunch at this lovely Italian restaurant today after discovering it on our walk back to our hostel from the Alcatraz Island trip. The food was fabulous and the service great. We even taught the waitress how to make a typical Kiwi drink called a shandy which is half beer and half lemonade. Not... read more

My husband and I had dinner our last night in the city and it was a great choice. We sat outside (they had overhead heaters) and our waiter was wonderful...he was attentive, personable and told us all about the menu items we had chosen (he also looked like Robert Downing Jr lol). The food was delicious and the prices are... More

We were looking for a great italian food amd we found it... Everything we tried was absolutely delicious! It was quite loud in the restaurant, but otherwise great experience!

I walked into this restaurant around 6pm, there were only 2 or 3 other tables. I was told to find a seat. i sat there for about 15 mins before anyone came over to even ask for a drink. Finally, i was asked if I need a beverage, I quickly chanted my drink order and my food order not knowing... More

This was a birthday celebration, so reservations were made. We arrived about 20 minutes early, and were greated warmly and seated right away; a window seat to watch the comings and goings on Columbus Avenue. Wine was ordered, then appetizers and our entrees. We asked to be served family style, which they gladly did, even going so far as to... More

Ate outside this restaurant on a walk from China Town to Fisherman's Wharf. The service was friendly and they had a decent selection of pasta and pizza. I had the ricotta and spinach ravioli with pesto which was very nice and my daughter had a margarita pizza which was excellent (thin crusted and tasty). A nicer place to eat at... More

We walked along Columbus St and chose Pellegrini after looking at TA. The food is good we all liked our meals except the seafood pasta's sauce was bland. Everything else was great and the waiter tried very hard to give us good service. We sat inside and he also had tables outside. If I lived in this city I would... More

Very good pizza and anti-pasto. Their sandwiches are lame and not good. They should take them out of their menu. I tried their meatballs and did not have any flavor. Wife had chicken milanese and below average. Kids love the pizza, though. That is why I think their "cafe" next door to the restaurant is a better option. Very informal.... More

Perfect for a late lunch, we sat at an outside table and had a lovely view of Washington Park and other North Beach sites. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. The food was served promptly and delightful. I had gnocchi with a homemade marinara sauce. It was perfectly prepared. The pizza ordered was on a thin crust and had... More

Hey Vicente, if you are wondering why we only tipped 7.5% / $10, be happy it wasn't $0, which is what you actually deserved. The service tonight was absolutely atrocious! We were ignored all night and when we did manage to get someone's attention - which wasn't easy as they did everything possible to avoid eye contact - it seemed... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
