We were staying at the Hotel Tomo, so considered Mums Shabu Shabu there, but it was crowded and noisy, so we walked the block to this restaurant. It was very enjoyable--a comfortable noise level, the food came quickly and was of fine quality. I would go back.

Went with my sister in law here and she got the veggie shabu shabu, and they gave her a pot of water to cook it in. Unimpressed. I got the chicken sukiyaki and it was really good. The sauce was great, the chicken and veggies cooked fast and had caramellized by the time I got to my last bowl. Also,... More

We had a decent anfd rich dinner with a shabu-shabu with chicken and seafood self-prepared in an induction skillet. We enjoyed the taste but we regret to say that the addition of the billewas totally wrong,50% higher than expected. We immediately asked to correct it nad that was done with no grudge. But stillthis sour impression remains.

Stopped in for lunch during the Cherry Blossom Festival. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was our first time for shabu shabu and we found it fun. We had the chicken and beef. We tried the spicy broth and regular broth. While we were full after our meal I do agree with other reviewers that they are stingy... More

Our first experience with shabu shabu, so take this review with a grain of salt. The four of us ordered two orders, both with the bonito base, which we found sorely lacking in flavor. The server brought us some miso paste and red pepper flakes, which greatly improved the flavor of the broth. We found the scallops appetizer, kimchee, and... More

This restaurant was very busy - specialized in Shabu Shabu however a few things to note: you get a pot with steaming water, not broth, so what you get in the end is just sangy water - not soup. They were stingy on the veggies. I just found it rather flavorless... which is what you'd expect from thinly sliced boiled... More

Shabusen Restaurant serves up some of the best shabu shabu in San Francisco. Shabusen, located on the Peace Plaza in Japantown, is an authentic Japanese (-American) restaurant serving shabu shabu as well as sukiyaki. The shabu shabu menu is limited but delicious. It's either chicken, beef, shrimp plus the accompanying vegetables. We shared the both beef and shrimp between three... More
