Focaccia Heaven

Stellar focaccia. Light, fluffy, tasty. We bought a couple for breakfast every morning we were in San Francisco. Our advice is to avoid the sweet option and the heavily-garnished options. Stick to the simple garnishes and you'll be in focaccia heaven....

Wow a close friend told us to go last week and we can't believe we have missed this place for the last 20 years! Go early or you will miss out. It is a focaccia heaven....seriously when I bit into the pesto focaccia it melted in my mouth and I couldn't stop talking about how yummy it was! We had... More

Liguria Bakery is no longer just a bakery. It is an institution! Get there early. It's best if you bring cash. don't come at noon and expect to get what you want. They bake and sell, and then they are done. That is how it works when you are getting delicious, fresh baked pieces of heaven. If you are lucky... More

This Bakery is one of the standards of San Francisco. It is located in Little Italy/North Beach, off Washington Square Park. It has been around since before I first tried it 35 years ago. They make only one thing - Focaccia and they make it well. The only change is that over the years, they have added more flavors. When... More

This will be my new regular stop in San Francisco. I tried the pizza focaccia which was excellent. My only regret is that I didn't buy a plain focaccia also.

I first started coming here in 1988 when I worked as a bike messenger in the City. I've been making it a stop every time I return to visit. While I miss having them ring up the sale on the old cash register - it's in the window now - they still wrap up the focaccia in white paper and... More

I only came here because of the rating in tripadvisor, I guess I would have not stopped at this place even if would had walking by...the place doesnt look like a bakery with welcoming food in the window. But what a mistake would it have been not stopping here. I had a pizza focaccia. I dont remember that I ever... More

Every time we are in SF we make it a point to get some Liguria Bakery focaccia as its truly the best SF has to offer. I suggest you get there early as today they were almost sold out by 11am. They only had raisin, pizza, and jalapeño which we really liked although the garlic and onion are the family... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
