It's A Matter of Taste

In SF, there are two ways you can go when looking for an Ice Cream Parlor--fancy and back-to-basics. Bi-Rite fits into the former and is at the top of the game. The ice cream is that good. And while the flavor selection can be a bit eclectic, try something different. You won't regret it. However... read more

This ice cream is by far the best I've ever had. AND it's even organic! The employees were so friendly and let us (more like asked us!) to sample every flavor...literally every flavor. The ice cream itself has a texture and flavor I've never had before - and I've had A LOT of ice cream in my life. My friend... More

I always avoid the lines by buying a pint. You know you will finish it. Do not be shy or modest. Love it all the time. Feeling guilty? Make a friend by sharing.

The lines are long, but the salted caramel ice cream is worth the wait! If you want to skip the line, go to the "by the pint" line and buy a pint to share with your friends. If you really want a cone, try to go during off hours.

Travelling through the "city by the bay" for the umpteenth time, I finally managed to make it to the "famous" Bi-Rite Creamery (mainly due to the fact that we were renting a car for the first time in san fran). The "set-up" is sort of weird in that you have a little parlour with all the tubs, and a separate... More

The flavors are intense and edgy. Sam's Sundae is one of the best things you'll ever put in your mouth. Really, really good! Bi-rite and Mitchell's are my two favs in San Francisco.

I discovered Bi-Rite Creamery on my first day in San Francisco and fell in love with their ice cream at the first spoonful. I subsequently frequented this place every evening during my 7-day stay (July 28th to August 3rd) in the Mission District and each time, it was just as amazing as the last. Bi-Rite Creamery is one of the... More

don't park in people's driveways (even just for a minute!) or sit outside yelling at each other about how good the ice cream is, as you are in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Every day at some point, there's no line, generally in the late afternoon on weekdays, right when they open on sunny weekends. Why not swing by... More

Awesome flavors! Great on the palate! Very unique. The line of waiting customers speaks for itself on how good it is. Try it out. You'll be happy you did.

I stopped by here on the way to Dolores park. I got the salted caramel and creme brulee ice cream and it was really creamy. Great place to treat yourself!

Staying in Mission District

Neighborhood Profile
Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.
