Good Moon Cake

After being next to it and reading all the hype and good reviews about this place, we had to give a try. There was quite a line but it moved relatively fast. We read a lot of good reviews about the egg tarte so we had to try one. To our luck they were just right out of the oven.... read more

I can't vouch for whether better egg tarts exist in New York, New Jersey, Toronto or China, but these are better than anything I've found in Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, Honolulu, and yes, even Richmond/Vancouver (although it' would be a different matter if we were talking about butter tarts from the now defunct BC Royal Cafe in old... wow the egg tarts are just simply delicious. the best ive ever had. this place is in chinatown and its hard to get here if you have a car. if you decide to try to drive to the golden gate bakery the best advice i can give you is: have someone drop you off right in front and have them... More

A little pricey but the egg custard is wonderful. Eggy and buttery crust and served warm. It is fantastic.

I can't remember if it's "wife" or "wedding" but it's awesome! They have steep prices for the egg custard though... I went to blossom bakery on wave rely instead for those

On every visit to Chinatown, we would go to the Golden Gate Bakery, see the line and pass on by. Finally, we decided to get in line and see what all the fuss was about. Our only regret was that we only got 2 egg tarts! Wow! They were wonderful, as were the other items we tried. I can assure... More

Golden Gate Bakery has gained a lot of tourist momentum - usually there is a massive line waiting outside to get an Egg Tart. I've tried it and it's good, don't get me wrong, but also the most expensive in Chinatown. I'd recommend trying other places as the quality is just as good (as long as they're hot!), but for... I relied on Yelp for good bakeries around Chinatown-San Francisco area and was not disappointed. Eggtart wasn't my top 5 desserts but since I was there, I had to try it and it was delicious! It was piping hot too so be careful...The crush was flaky and the inside was soft and buttery. I got 2 to go...for myself. Can't... More

We read about the Golden Gate Bakery before visiting San Francisco and are glad we stoped not only for an egg tart but also for other sweet and spicy specialties. Basically 1 of each untill we ran out of cash... YUMMY! So happy we did!

So I read all the reviews on this bakery and had to stop by for their egg tart and the almond cookies. Mind you, I had stopped by another bakery the night before in chinatown, mostly because I was lost. So I finally get to Golden Gate Bakery and I was a bit disappointed. The egg tart was nice, but... A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates.
