Excellent crab with reasonable prices

The food and wine were great and the service was great too. Maybe a little to great. Kind of got the feeling that they wanted to turn tables quickly. We didn't have our salads long enough to take 3 bites and our dinner arrived. Had to put the salads aside to eat last in order to eat our dinner... read more

The setting was lovely. Being on pier 39 this is definitely central to the action. The crab was average. Presentation was great but the crab was a little dry. Service was good also. Good experience, true San Francisco style.

Yes, it is at Pier 39 where all the tourists, you and me alike, are over-charged for everything and this place is no exception. We had lunch here recently after returning from the Ai Weiwei exhibit on Alcatraz, and the cost of 2 of us after tax/some sort of weird city fee/tip/ 2 beers/ a crab caesar salad and 1/2... More

I just responded to your Yelp review, but I'd like to reiterate my sentiments here. First off, thanks so much for braving the tourist crowds and giving us a shot. You say in your Yelp review that you enjoyed the flavor of the 1/2 crab, and that's great to hear. However, I'm sorry you didn't find our prices reasonable. We... More

If you don't mind how cramped and noisy it is, the Crab House has some excellent food. The 1/2 crab fixed price meal will fill you up in no time. The noise and the let's see how many people we can pack into one space dynamic cost it a dot.

We do get pretty packed, but I like to think it's because we're worth it! Glad we could satisfy your hunger with the 1/2 crab! Just to let you know, we seat our tables with both quality and efficiency in mind and have settled on what we think is a nice limit. If you'd like a quieter meal, I suggest... More

Noisy, one unisex restroom, 45 minute wait AFTER reserved time...and the food was just so so. The prices were average, but still very disappointing.

I'm sorry that you found your meal just "so so"! We usually go for "great great," but we may have been slightly off our mark when you visited. We're a really busy destination restaurant, so I understand it can get fairly noisy. In the future, if you make an early reservation, the crowds will be smaller. Sincerely, Bart More

When we arrived here it was Easter and heavy booked, we got lucky and the nice manager found us s great table with the best view in SF. We ordered crab for two and some gain mussels as a side dish. The crab just blew us away with taste, best I've ever had, it was more than enough for two.... More

Great product, great service, great bill. To watch the production of quickly turned tables is part of the experience. With all of the fast-paced action the manager figures out how to touch clients and not be intrusive. Really give this place high marks.

I'm so happy we could produce a great experience for you, Daniel. The action is part of the excitement of the job, and we love to hear a customer get excited as well. Happy to hear we passed the test! Cheers, Bart More

I am a huge Dungeoness Crab Fan and after checking a couple places out on the internet, yes, research, this place came up right at the top. So we made a reservation and headed down to Pier 39. We arrived 5 minutes early and had to wait 15 minutes in the bar for our table. Once we got to our... More

When you walk in the door, we want you to be excited for the delicious meal that's about to be on the table, so I'm sorry that the experience didn't play out that way, Jen. Typically, we are hitting on every cylinder, so it's a shame the food wasn't as great as it usually is. You deserve great portions for... More

Maybe the throng of people touring Pier 39 dissuades a lot of locals, but the Crab House has yet to disappoint! We have gotten predictable - crab chowder, skillet roasted mussels and steamed clams, followed by Killer Crab, plus/minus fries or garlic noodles, depending on number of out-of-town guests and appetites. Yes, its packed on many nights with a line... More

This was our first stop tonight on our family vacation to San Fransisco. We came here for dinner. The menu posted outside seemed a bit pricey but the smell of the food was amazing so we thought what they heck we will give it a try. We should have ran for the door when we encountered the nastiest host &... More

Whitney, I am so sorry that you didn't receive the exceptional service that you deserve! We are a very popular and crowded spot, but we don't think that quality service should fall by the wayside as a result of that. Your experience sounds atypical, as we do our very best to make everyone's meal enjoyable. Often there are waits for... More
