Today on our travels we wanted to go to fisherman's wharf for a meal as we traveled through San Fransisco going north bound. We looked on trip advisor and we picked pier 39 as it is must stop for most tourist. We looked at the crab shack and were not disappointed. We were very thankful that we used the tripadvisor... Good Crab and chowder soup. Pricey place for the type of food. I liked to use the twizers to crush the crab and eat it with my hands. Went once, not going twice.

We made a reservation, checked in on time, rudely told they were very busy and it would be a few minutes. 30 minutes later we were seated. We should have left sooner. The floors walking to our table were so greasy my mother in law slipped, there was food under our table and on the seats, menus were dirty, the... More

I'm sorry we didn't make a very good first impression. I wish you would have given us a shot and tried the food -- people have great things to say about us! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to clean your table before you left. We always like to make sure that our space is clean and safe for all... More

The wait was about 45 minutes and it is very crowded by the entrance. Make sure to have your entire party present to be seated. We had the double shrimp and double crab skillet. It was pretty good and cost $49. It was enough for two people to share, but it left us still hungry because it was more like... More

Next time you come, we'd love to make sure you leave full, Jennifer! Perhaps an appetizer to share would be a good addition to ensure this. As far as the wait is concerned, we get very busy and a wait is pretty common. We take reservations, so you can get seated even quicker. Hope all is well with you. I'd... More

The dungeness crab was so so good. We ordered one each and then ordered another one - it is THAT good! We've had some of the other items on the menu, and while they were all good, I would save room for more crab!

We visited as we were told to go there by a shop assistant ... Waited 45 min plus ... How disappointing ... We had the cioppino and mussels and shrimp .. The muscles were terribly small and some had a very strange "offish" flavor and the shrimp had no flavor ... The cioppino was not good at all compared to... More

While the service was great for you, I wish that the food would have impressed you too. We're very popular, so there are often times a bit of a wait. If you make a reservation in advance, we can seat you much quicker. I'm concerned to hear about an "offish" flavor in the muscles -- we source fresh, quality ingredients.... More

This place was highly recommended by family members and I have to say that even though it is a smart tourist trap I really enjoyed the food. Great crab in a fun, touristy area. Make sure you have a reservation, or be prepared to wait a while. Service is good. If you're looking for seafood, this is the place to go in downtown SF.

Thanks so much for coming by! You're right: A reservation is a good idea -- we get really crowded sometimes, especially on the weekends. I sincerely appreciate your recommendation. We'll keep serving up good food with a smile. Hope to see you again soon! Sincerely, Bart More

Yes it's a tourist trap but some of the best crab I've had. Restaurant gives you excellent views of the bay and pier 39. We shared a pile of Rosemary garlic crab. Came with several flavor of butter for dipping. Pretty expensive but delicious.
