the food though!

By far some of the best thai food i have ever had stateside! All the seafood is amazing, and its open for lunch and dinner. Their drinks are pretty good too - try the one that comes in a coconut!

My friends all live in California and we decided to get together in San Francisco for a girls night. So glad we came here. Cocktails are delicious, food is even better. We gobbled everything up enthusiastically. So good! The owner came by the check on us and we got to talk to him a little as well. He was so... More

Found this place by chance as I had a meeting in the area and was walking around. The crowed was growing by the minute and it looked inviting so I went in. Lunch specials included a main dish and 2 appetizers for $14-$15. Brown rice with the main dish was +$1. I had a mango salad and 2 chicken skewers... More

Contemporary, lively and high quality. Interesting menu with plenty of beer choices. Fast service but I felt just a bit rushed. Good recommendations by our server and I'd go again.

We have visited this lovely Thai restaurant about four or five times. This time instead of our usual salad and entree we decided to order appetizers and salad for dinner. I usually order the mango salad but it was not available, so the waiter recommended the papaya salad. At first I was disappointed that the mango salad was not available... More

This was our second visit to GPB: our impression was that the food was not as good as it was some months back. I hadn't said anything, so I was a little surprised when my wife said what I had myself concluded but not yet said. The food was merely OK. Although the decor is not at all upscale, the... More

I liked the feel of the place and there was on wait for a Saturday evening. Walked in and were seated right away. We skipped the appetizers and ordered the entree which included the: Chicken sweet basil: I highly recommend it, it had the right amount of spices and it was yummy. Garlic lamb: I found this to be okay,... More

Nice decor. We had the $15 combo lunch and it was a lot of food. 2 appetizers and entree. The mango salad was very spicy. Chicken sate with a very nice peanut sauce (had coconut milk in it) was done well. Spring rolls were average but the sweet dipping sauce had lots of chilis and spicy. The green curry with... More

Someone please tell the owner of this overly-hip SOMA restaurant that one waiter cannot hope to provide decent service to so many tables, even with a runner in support and two busboys. My water glass was promptly refilled, and for that I am grateful. But our nearly 30-minute wait to order was the shortest wait of the night. I don't... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
