Part of the Hotel Whitcomb, we had breakfast while there. While menu is limited the food arrived promptly and hot. My husband had a made to order omelette and it was stuffed high, cheese nice and melty and he said very good. Two travelers next to us also were commenting on good their meal was. I had oatmeal which came... More

Discreet attentive service in a stunning setting . Not ridiculously expensive, and a real sense of having a meal in a truly historic setting

I can't remember seeing Croque Madam on a menu-ever. Perhaps I don't frequent the right places. In any case Croque Madam!!! It was delicious, just what I expected. This restaurant is in the Hotel Whitcom in Market Street. Parking is tough and pricey, you can find the paid valet parking on Market just before you reach the hotel, it is... More

We had reservations at the place at 5:30. Plenty of time to make our 7:30 show across the street. We barely made it. ONE HOUR after we arrived we got our salads. Entree's took another 20 minutes and came 2 at a time (there were 7 of us). Two entrees came and then another two, FIVE minutes later. And finally... More

I associate most hotel restaurants with trapped businessmen on expense accounts. We were happy to find this restaurant had delicious meals at reasonable prices in a pleasant setting. The Lobster and Truffle Mac and Cheese was tasty and incredibly filling - it and a salad could easily be shared by two (and there's always dessert, which we never did have... More

We chose this restaurant not only for the excellent cuisine and good service we've experienced there in the past but also for its convenience - only a few footsteps from exiting the BART escalator on 8th & Market, and kitty-corner from the Orpheum Theater for performances - one can even go through the BART station from one to the other... A great little restaurant right across from the Orpheum Theater. I ate here with my family before we went to see Wicked. This was my third time eating here, and every time I have enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I am not a high-end diner and to eat at a place like this is a once in a great... More

Great preparation of food and reasonable prices; nice ambience with gas fire. The menu changes a bit daily so you are bound to discover something that appeals to you.

While heading to the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco for the production of the Lion King we knew that we needed to get there early enough to get dinner also. Trouble was, where to eat? Walking down Market Street we say all the regular places, fast food, not so fast food, then we came upon The Market Street Grill. This... More

I went with my daughter and a couple of students to the Market Street Grill last week and was quite pleased. The restaurant is located in the entryway of an old hotel whose lobby has seen better days. The lobby and adjoining bathrooms are quite a bit run down. However, the restaurant does not seem run down at all -... More
