A Delicious Pre-Theatre Meal!

Located in the historic Whitcomb Hotel (built in 1924), the Market Street Grill was the perfect restaurant to have our pre-theatre performance meal. We ate here just before catching a performance at the Orpheum Theater, which is across the street and half a block away. We choice this place primarily for the convenience. We didn't expect much but it was better than expected. They had a variety of dishes from which to choose, and the four of us all liked our dishes. I... More

There aren't a lot of dining options (other than Burger King) if you are going to the Orpheum Theater but this was our 2nd trip to the Market Street Grill and it was great both times. The Whitcomb Hotel, where the Grill is located, is a beautifully restored older hotel in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood. But the Grill always pleases.... More

The restaurants's food is delicious and they make a good Bloody Mary too. The service was very good and prices were pretty good.

Across the street from the Orpheum theater , and a parking lot next doors make for and enjoyable night in the City. Food was very good, the staff all up tempo and smiling. Service was quick and if you are going to the theater, better have a reservation for a 7:00PM dinner. We will be back !!

It's across the street from the Orpheum Theater which houses Broadway tours. Service is shoddy, food at best adequate. My advice: eat before you go to the theater.

This is the restaurant attached to the Hotel Whitcomb, probably pricey but the halibut and the salmon were amazing and the service was excellent!

Grabbed lunch here before seeing a show. Great, accommodating, efficient staff who were true to their word that they would get our order done in a timely fashion to make the show on time. Our sandwiches ( crab and chicken salad) were excellent and tasted freshly prepared. We even had time for coffee which was also very good. This place... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
