Good for me--not for everyone

Senior citizen talking to other seniors: If you are looking for a quiet Italian dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, this isn't the place. It's noisy and the staff is exuberant--the waiters like to tell jokes, kiss the women, hug the men, put on a show. If you are put off by this kind of behavior... read more

Made a reservation for 2 kids and 2 adults. After waiting at the staircases for more that 30 minutes and still a reservation before us we decided to leave. Some of the waiters friend who went in from the street got a table before us. Very loudy place - more like a cafeteria that a restaurant.

Great food, we had salad, scampi and pasta and it was 'fatastico'. The waiters were very friendly too although there were some people waiting for a place. Unfortunately it is so loud in there that you can't really have a conversation...

We made reservations and upon arrival we were greeted the Italian way with smiles, how are you, where are you from bla bla The restaurant was very noisy and loud which we normally enjoy, but this was a bit over the top because we could not have a conversation cross the table. Fair enough: the food was good and seemed... More

I've lived in San Francisco for many years, but I've never discovered this restaurant until 2 days ago. The food made me think I was visiting Italy. I love fish and seafood and all the dishes we tried were extremely fresh and presented beautifully. I noticed other groups with people from all over the world as well as locals like... More

We stumbled upon this place for dinner - we both had entrées, mains and dessert. The food was Devine, the place had a neat atmosphere and really good service ... The staff were awesome and a lot of fun 😊

We went here after reading all of the reviews on here saying how good it was. We were greeted with friendly, energetic wait staff, and that's how they were the whole time. But they were way too loud with the yelling through the restaurant, which was also very loud the whole time. The food was 50/50.. Out of 2 appetizers... More

The food is good, not perfect. The service is (slightly) over the top but by all means well meaning. The place can be very noisy - and they're proud of it "This Is Italy" - and is slightly run down (seats of chairs with cracks)

My family and I had dinner there last night and it was our best night out our entire stay in San Fran! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant the staff made us feel right at home and as if we were long lost friends. The food was scrumptious! I can't wait to go again!

Food and service are very good. Acceptable wine list. Acoustics are not favorable when sitting upstairs.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
