We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the meal and service here! We had checked out the menu prior to the reservation (made by friends) and were on the fence about the place. The homemade pasta was fantastic and our large group was accommodated extremely well by the waiters. We only wished we could have gone back again... More

"Wow!" That's what both my husband and I said after our first bites! I got the stuffed chicken and my husband ordered the 1st pasta on the menu. The staff are ALL very nice and very upbeat and friendly. Very attentive too! It felt like a big family. They all seemed to be related. Excellent food, good music, and right... More

3 italian friends spending new year holidays. 120$ bill with tip for a small dish of pasta, a glass of overpriced prosecco and a espresso. Nice waiters but very noisy ambient. Good food but way overpriced. Not recommended.

We are sorry to hear that even though these visitors to San Francisco found their food to be good and thought their waiters were nice, they had a problem with the cost of the bill for 3 people. We think there is some misunderstanding of the way dining out at a full service restaurant in San Francisco is different than... More

That is what we were told the name of the restaurant means. It's true. The food was excellent. I had the spaghetti neri - squid ink pasta (it's black and tasty) with generous portions of clams, squid, calamari and shrimp (okay, there were only two shrimp) with a pleasant tomato sauce. My wife had the ravioli castagne - stuffed with... More

We ate here for dinner after my sister's graduation from pharmacy school. It was such a lovely restaurant for our celebration. We had a large table upstairs. The servers were all so friendly and helpful with wine selection. They have some wonderful Moscato! The food was amazing! The pasta was cooked to perfection!! The desserts were so yummy as well,... Wonderful Italian food, great waiters, great ambiance, Panna Cotta not to be missed, paired with a shot of Italian coffee. Great gluten free options.

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
