Wonderful Service. Wonderful Food.

Wow. Just finished an excellent meal at this restaurant. I had anchovies that rivaled those I had in Liguria. My wife had chicken involtino that also was delicioso! The restaurant was a little noisy but the staff was attentive and gave us all the time we wanted to eat our meal and polish off a bottle of excellent vino rosso.... More

Just returned from my wonderful dinner at this italian restaurant. It was rather loud, but there were several graduation parties there, and I decided to just flow with it. The bruschetta was wonderful, as well as the Involtini di Pollo. My husband had the grilled fresh sardines, which were excellent as well. This place reminded me of eating in an... More

The staff is very friendly but after awhile the Italian theatatrics becomes annoying with all the yelling and singing. I felt like I was at a resturant in Disney! The food was boring. I should have know when we walked in and didn't smell any garlic that it was going to be blank. The bread was dense and tasted like... More

Great dining experience in the heart of the italian district. Fresh and well prepared food. Good variety but not overloaded. Very friendly service with plenty of time. Good selection of wines. Nice seafood and appropriate prices. We enjoyed our visit!

We were a party of four (business colleagues) dining out for dinner. We chose this restaurant based on the hotel recommendation. The greeting was warm and genuine. The ambiance is busy. The locale is a nice old ground floor structure with huge windows. The food? Absolutely amazing! I have lived in Italy for 3 years, so I know authentic Italian... More

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary with our son in San Francisco and wanted Italian for dinner. The pasta dishes were amazing, cooked to perfection! The black ink pasta and seafood plate was delicious! They bake homemade Italian bread every two hours, warm and yummy!!

We ate here twice during our week long stay in San Francisco. Each time we had drinks, appetizers, pasta course, and coffee. my husband loves seafood so he had a carpaccio of octopus and I of beef. He had the Spaghetti Neri, I a ravioli with chestnuts, sage, buttersauce and crispy pancetta. It was so delicious that was the pasta... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
