Good dinner down by the Customs House

The Customs House is a fun place to stroll through, have a drink or do some shopping, but just a block away you can get away from the crowds a bit and find good food at the American restaurant. I dined here with business colleagues and enjoyed the fried artichokes and pizza Salsicca made with... read more

The waiter was completely charming but the food itself could have been a bit better. Soup tasted like they dumped a box of salt in it; tried another one and it was equally unappealing. Waiter said that the chef admitted it was over salted.

A bit surprised but it was a really great dinner at Americano. Not very crowded...waiter Chris was really good--not pushy but attentive and helpful. Had the burger which was really good and they take pride in it according to the waiter. Pizzas and steak were also good. Would go back. Couldn't see the bridge where we were but still a... More

The restaurant and hotel is quite nice but the food was awful - the pasta was overlooked and they completely forgot the salt! The service was terrible they removed the plates before the whole table finished their meal!

Serene, tranquil and cozy restaurant. I had breakfast here both days in a quiet corner and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Well prepared food and you face the water, which is always a plus.

We ate there primarily for convenience. Breakfast was standard. Had chicken panini for lunch and it was extremely dry. Luckily there were lots of other places to eat along the water.

I had the pork loin with the corn and squash pancake and it was fantastic! My husband had the rib eye and it was good. Our son had the hanger steak and it was cooked and presented well, but the portion was a bit on the small side. The service was sub par and we didn't connect with our server... More

WOW what a view. Right on the bay and street access. Had a few drinks at night with work friends and then an amazing breakfast. The fruit was fresh and eggs tasted as if they were right from the farm. Really loved my breakfast (the most important meal of the day)

Had lunch at Americano with a business associate. The food is decent and the lunch special (half sandwich + soup, or soup + salad, plus a piece of fruit and 2 cookies) is a good deal. My issues aren't with the food but two other things that may not be an issue for other diners. First, I asked my waiter... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
