My husband and I had a wonderful meal at Bushi-Tei last week. Decor is lovely and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. The owner is on his toes and he obviously cares about providing excellent service. Our meals were beautifully presented and portion size was just right. I had trout that was cooked... More

I visited San Francisco with wife from 31 March to 6 April and set about organising a gourmet marathon. We dined on seven successive nights in AQ, Gary Danko, Garibaldi, Per Diem, Slanted Door, Bushi Tei and Velvet Room in Clift hotel. I am writing up a separate review for each for comparison purposes. They can be found by following... More

I wanted to like this place; I really did. I had been intrigued by it for a while and when my roommate decided to host dinner at Bushi-Tei to celebrate his graduation from a doctoral program, I was excited to give it a whirl! The ambiance was cool, the decor was nice and I was hoping the food would match.... More

This Asian Fusion place across from the Kabuki Hotel in Japantown was great. While my husband was underwhelmed by the pork loin, which he found too bland, we were both WOWED by the soy-braised ribs. These came with a delicate shallot cream, smoked mashed potatoes, and sauteed greens. They were fall-apart tender and tasted amazing. Atmosphere when we were there... More

My wife and I had dinner here after several recommendations . The restaurant is small with mostly banquette style seating with light curtains separating the diners. Somewhat noisy. First offered a table on the stairway landing, but did not choose due to the total lack of ambience. As for the food, I ordered the omekase which was very interesting especially the... More

This is the second time that we have dined at this restaurant and it was not a disappointment. We had first come here in November when we flew to San Francisco to attend a Keiko Matsui concert as it was across the street from where we stayed in Japantown. I had the Coq au Vin and it was so tremendous... More

Just left Bushi-Tei feeling very satisfied. Our meal was exquisite, comprising of torched tuna, velvety tofu mousse, Tokyo duck, handmade noodles and black cod with sausage. All dishes were uniquely designed with great care. The Japanese perfection combined with the French style sauces made for a memorable experience. The great service and the rustic/sleek interior enhanced the meal. Be sure... More
