This is a great, great place for sushi. Depending on the catch and the freshness, you have to enjoy local half-moon bay Albacore. The first time I was there - out of this world! Second time, the chefs cut it a little bit different. But still great. They are also very picky for their sea urchin (uni) and has yet... More

If you are in the Mission, this place has very good sushi (but not the best in SF). Three of us loved the Kiji Ceviche, the Ahi Carpaccio and the Toro Tartar - all subtle and delicious. We liked the dayboat scallops (perfectly cooked) but thought they would have been better if the bacon was left out so the truffle... More

Having lived for 5+ years in Japan my expectations for a sushi bar are very high. I have walked past this place often and recently decided to have dinner with a friend. The sushi is fresh and beautifully presented, but really sets it apart is that some of their fish 9and Uni ) comes directly from Japan. This is indicated... More

Kiji is a pretty decent sushi restaurant for San Francisco. The fish is fresh, and the service is pretty solid. However, it just doesn't compare to other sf stalwarts in the same price range (eg Ebisu). The fish is good but not great. The flavor is fresh but won't blow you away. For instance, the day boat scallops with truffle... More

We've been here on a recommendation of a friend. We sampled the sushi and the dinner set. Sushi was nice but that's it. Nothing to special, especially not for you what you need to pay - easy between 8-10$ for 2 small pieces.

Horrible experience. I have been here before and enjoyed the experience so I wanted to bring back my friend and her boyfriend. Apparently, you only get good service when you show up looking like you are about to spend money, which I admittedly did my first time with a male companion. This time, I made an impromptu reservation, at about... More

WIthout question, one of the best sushi restaurants I have eaten at. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgable about the current fresh fish on hand. Everything she recommended was great. One dish, horse mackerel, was presented with a skin and bone of a fish turned on itself and the sushi inside the fish outline. After we ate the sushi,... More

Arrived early and implored the sushi chef to feed us Omakase (chef's choice) for the evening. We enjoyed sampling a number of new but outstanding sakes from the wine list as we thoroughly enjoyed both the visual presentation and the mouth feel of the wonderful dishes we were served. For a neighborhood style sushi bar, the chef does an outstanding... More

Parking is a little interesting around this neighborhood but its a nice walk any way around here. The place is cozy so get there early so you can get a window seat. Great selection of sake. The Sushi chef here does an amazing job combining flavors and introducing new takes on sushi. Definitely worth the stop while in San Fran.

I've been lucky enough to live two blocks from Kiji for almost two years, and I've eaten there many, many times. Let me get one slightly negative item out of the way: it's a tad pricey for a neighborhood sushi restaurant. That said, the quality is far superior to your average sushi joint and is worth considering for anyone visiting... More
