Solid performer - good Mexican food

We dropped into this restaurant looking for a good menu, medium noise and good drinks. They hit all the good points: Good service, food and menu was good and drinks were well made. We will be back.

We had read a previous report about Mamacita & we weren't disappointed. We were told a half hour wait for a table but were well looked after at the bar. We were seated within 15 minutes & the food & service was amazing. An extremely busy place so expect to wait but so well worth it.

My husband and I love Mamacita! We were locals for a few years and this was our go to restaurant! The food, drinks and service are always excellent! We visit this restaurant now when we have the opportunity to visit San Fran. We always talk about how every city needs a Mamacita! We crave it all the time! Fish tacos... More

I came across this restaurant by accident, just walking around as a tourist. I went in right as they opened at 5pm and ordered the Carnitas Especial. Out came thick fresh corn tortillas, and a hot skillet of pork chunks, fresh guacamole, some bitter carrots, and a queso fundido dip. The guacamole was super fresh and helped to cool down... More

We hit Mamacita every time we visit the City (about twice a year). We discovered it with friends about five years ago and have never been disappointed. Great margaritas and really unique takes on Mexican food, both classics and the unusual. We have had crazy-good queso right alongside little Mexican meatballs. Put this on your to-do list if you're visiting....and... More

Excellent mexican restaurant somewhat off the beaten path in San Fran. The tacos were amazing. The vibe inside is great and the service was excellent. Would go back.

This is a trendy nice restaurant and totally fits San Francisco. We enjoyed the atmosphere, but the tables were a bit close together. The brisket enchiladas presented well, but the meat tasted a bit "gamey" meaning wild meat such as in venison. My husband had the tacos and still hungry afterwards, as the portion wasn't enough for him- 3 tacos... More

The guacamole and salsa were the best we've ever had. He had the carnitas and they were absolutely amazing. I had crispy chicken tacos-- everything was so fresh and well-done. It's pricier, but definitely worth it!

Service was top notch and the food had deep flavor but the price tag is a bit much for mexican food. $9 for guacamole is high, $16 for tacos?! Equal to better restaurants out there charge a lot less. Tables are crammed together in this quaint restaurant.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
