Fantastic Food

Great, fresh, super creative menu. Amazing flavors you would never think can work together. And as others wrote before... the bread is amazing!!!

We were told by several people that this was " the restaurant " in San Francisco, so needless to say we were eager to try it. When we saw the prix fixe menu my wife said there was nothing that appealed to her. I convinced her to try it, which was a big mistake. I'm all for being creative but,... More

Bar Tartine is a great choice is you approach new restaurants as an adventure. Expect to ask the knowledgeable wait staff a lot of questions about the food, and trust their recommendations. We shared everything, allowing us to try a variety of delicious and interesting dishes.

There are many reasons to come to the Bar Tartine, but they all start with the bread, which is homemade and the best our family has ever tasted. We especially liked the wheat but the rye was also tasty. But it is what goes on the bread that makes this restaurant so inventive. Try the homemade farmers cheese and mushroom... More

What an amazing place. There's a Friends and Family menu at about $76 a person, or an a la carte menu that can also be shared. We enjoyed the a la carte choices for 4 of us, and with drinks and trying out some desserts we spent $220.! But you will not regret this place. The staff is very attentive,... More

Prior to travelling to San Francisco on holiday, my wife and I did a a bit of research on best restaurants in the city and Bar Tartine was highly recommended. So we booked a table for lunch and cannot recommended the food at this restaurant/bar highly enough. Staff were very friendly and efficient! Great selection of food on offer and... More

Nondescript-looking gem in Mission District. Housemade Crackers, Breads with dips and spreads all made in house, great infused beverages, thoughtfully prepared main courses with focus and flavor depth, unusual and genuine desserts.

Bar Tartine is a hidden little spot in the Mission District. By hidden, I mean we almost didn't find it. It is blue but truly - no sign except a tiny one in the window. Typically when going someplace like this we go with the pre fix menu with wine pairings. The selections are typically inventive and it forces me... More

A lot of people recommended trying Tartine and though the food was good, it is not jaw-dropping. Prices are steep for the plate sizes (+ concept is to share). The menu has unusual suggestions not always worth trying.
