Second visit this year, its my favorite restaurant in SFO. Fantastic bread, many deep flavors, interesting menu and pretty reasonable priced for SFO. Its on my must-vist-when-there list.

Bar tartine has a high reputation of inventive cuisine, but is certainly didn't meet our expectations. We expected fine dining, but it definitely did not meet any criteria of a high end restaurant. It is probably a great place for people who are fans of vegan/vegetarian/not to say granola cuisine with a lot of grains and very few meats. That... More

As restaurant experiences go, this is a good spot for those watching their diets and requiring a healthy alternative. Not being part of this group however, I found the food to be a little on the 'try-hard' side. Most dishes have unrecognizable ingredients and sometimes elude the simplicity of more traditional cuisines. They do however know their bread, as you'd... More

We went for Sunday brunch. It was recommended we share the dishes. For the opportunity to try everything, this was a good idea, but some of the dishes were not big enough for everyone in our party to share. Therefore, I thought it was strange that everything on the menu was "shared plates." The 6 dishes (amount recommended by server)... More

Our party of four - two Millennials and two Baby Boomers - enjoyed Bar Tartine and it is as much an intellectual experience of how imaginatively food can be served as it is a restaurant. We shared everything (a total of about eight dishes) and we liked everything - but some were better than others. We especially liked the trout,... More

My family went to Bar Tartine last week. Although one of our sons loved it, my husband and I found it pretentious. Several of the dishes' flavors were too intense. The service was okay, nothing great, if not inattentive. The beet dessert was interesting. In all fairness, it may just not have been our type of place. There was something... More

OMG where do I start, this place is heaven on earth. From the fantastic friendly staff to the sublime food, this restaurant is a must for any discerning foodie visitor. We visited twice in seven days because we simply couldn't get enough. Both times we had exceptional food and both times we chose the de gustation menu, although one of... More

Great food. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The smoked eggplant dip, lentil croquettes and rainbow trout were delicious.

When I see reviews for a restaurant that are diametrically opposed, some saying they had their best meal there, and some saying that they had their worst meal, I initially tend to discount the naysayers, assuming that their experiences were aberrations. After dining there myself, with my family, unfortunately, I have to join the latter. There were some very good... More
